Sunlight Shaman spell

Hi there,

Hope you can Help me another time.

This Weekend the group Went through a "Dungeon" and sunlight was Cast AS light source.

There where many traps and Hidden Doors, covered via illusions.

The sunlight spell has a Passage regarding illusions and a +20 to sensing Tests. I dont know what really is ment with it.

Does it Help to uncover illusions?

Please enlight me

Yes it does

A sensing test occurs whenever a character has a chance to discover the illusion (see p266 in ed4 core for details on illusions and detecting them)

They would get +20 to their step if the spell was illuminating the illusion

I thought the Same, nur cant (still) believe it.

+20 ist nowhere near all other Options a Charakter has to Sense illusions. Even the Talent ist capped at +15.

I can believe it, dispelling illusions seems to be the main purpose of the spell.

Remember that the spell doesn't actually grant a sensing test, just gives a bonus to one, so your players will have to be doing something with the illusions to notice them

Yes, but it only affects the target of the spell:

"Illusions also fail to conceal the target, granting any onlookers a +20 bonus to associated Sensing tests. If this spell is cast on a target other than the spellcaster, the Difficulty is the target’s Mystic Defense."

Since the target is "Self", that means it only applies to the caster unless that is changed by an effect like the Wizard Fifth Circle Karma ability. Meaning it won't help uncover anything.

Now i am even more confused...

Lets say i am the caster and Cast it on myself, then search a room where illusions are, do i get +20 or Not?

You gain +20 on a sensing test regarding illusions on the target of the sunlight spell.

If you cast it on yourself, you get no bonus to sensing tests, it would only help for illusions covering/hiding/masking you.

This basically means yes, you have light, but you can't really mask/hide yourself. Everybody would see through it.

OK i got IT so far.

I dont get the Intention of this +20 to sensing Tests. Cause it counts for every light source i got on my Charakter.

IT IS clear to me that i cant "hide" with light on.

To ask the question where IT IS, its from mystic paths.
