I'll glance up at Mekhitar as he cheerily points at the village and give him a slighty weathered expression. "Right." I say, bringing my hat down low over my eyes and stepping away from the railing. Given that we're nearing port, I'll first go and meet up with the others - particularly Garsevan, if there's anything he wants to discuss last minute before we duel, now would be the time to do so. Apart from that, all I can do is follow Mekhitar's lead on this one, as he'll probably lead us through what to do next.

Splitting the time is fine with me, and will fill in the early part of the day nicely. I won't eat too much for breakfast; enough to fill me, but not so much that I'll feel lethargic while I'm spending time sitting around working on skills. When Mekhitar comes around, I'll wrap up with the current teaching point with Kolbeinn and head up on deck with him (assuming he's coming along) to join the crowd gathering to see the show.

Isaac: Garsevan shows up in a brilliantly crimson tunic with silver embroidery, a matching headscarf, and a white baldric with a series of enameled metal badges pinned down it. He has his sword slung across his back in a scabbard of black leather decorated with silver filigree. When you approach, he dips in the air, sort of bowing, best he can do with no legs anyway. “Ready for the show?” he asks cheerfully. There's a bit of a hard edge to his voice, though, and around his eyes.

Alston: You follow on up with Mekhitar and Kolbeinn. Gudrun and Shaliko join the three of you at the gangway.

All: The ship finishes tying off, and the first officer meets with a town official. Documents are examined and a fee is paid. Once that's done, the first officer nods to the bos'n, who pipes three shrill notes, and calls out, “All ashore that's going ashore!” in a voice that echoes off the far bank. The lot of you lead the parade, with Garsevan and Isaac on point. The town is relatively small, maybe a thousand Name-givers, mostly dwarves. There's a number of one and two story wooden buildings, a couple of taller stone ones toward the center, and streets mostly of packed earth with wooden sidewalks. The docks have a few fishing boats tied up, but most of the town's fleet is out on the river at this hour, and out of sight either upstream or down. Doesn't look like they do a lot of trading on the river, as there's only a couple of small warehouses. Off past the docks and up the shoreline just a little is a large clear area, hard-packed dirt, with stables, a horse-ring, and a couple of paddocks on the edge of it. You're heading that direction.

"Yes." I reply dryly, wondering exactly how much of this is going to be choreographed as planned. There's nothing else to do but go with the flow until the time of duel. However, I'll keep my eyes open for that woman, since if she's really following us this is probably something she would want to see. Until we get to the place of the duel, I'll just fall into step with Garsevan and move quietly, looking quite grim as one would expect.

As we approach the clearing, I'll try to fall back a bit, letting the focus be pulled up front toward Isaac, Garsevan, and of course Mekhitar with all his flash and flare. Once I'm sure most of the attention up front and away from me, I'll slip off to the side. I'm not looking to be super sneaky, just not in the lime light. I want to look for a good vantage point up high so I can watch the duel, but also the crowd and any other potential hiding spots. If there is a tall tree nearby, that would be perfect to blend with my colorings and give some concealment, but if not then I can make do going up on top of the stables.

Both of you make PER tests. Alston, if you have any stealth-type Talents or Skills, now would be the time to make a test with them.

No stealth yet, I get Silent Walk eventually, but I can do a straight Dex. Both are 2d6 for me

Isaac: You do not see the embroidery woman. You do see the fanboy, tugging at his mother's hand and urging her to hurry or they won't be able to see the fight. Make three Melee Weapons tests. You may also make Avoid Blow or similar combat Talent tests if you like.

Alston:\\
You aren't particularly stealthy in slipping off to the side. When you land atop a stable, one of the workers there calls up to you, “Better view from up there?” You don't see anyone particularly suspicious. The steward with the amulet or whatever it is stayed aboard the riverboat – you passed him as you were heading to the gangplank and haven't seen him since.

I'll use a karma in each of these tests (although I am running a little low, perhaps time for a karma ritual later).

Melee Tests (d10+d8+d8)
Melee test 1: 8+6+2=16
Melee test 2: 4+6+8+8+4=30
Melee test 3: 9+4+5=18

Avoid Blow: (d12+d10+d8) 10+10+7+8=35
