Just finished reading the Elven nations book and a player made a blood elf. 1 month has passed so now he needs to make a longing test.

However, the text is not clear as to what the actual step rolled is other than it increases by +1 each month.

Am I missing something?

Oh, wow, this became much more hardcore than described in the old Blood Wood book
Guess I have to overthink how I'm playing my Blood Elve now..
And longer travels outside of Barsaive became somewhat impossible

And yes, you are right, I can't find anything about it either.
In the older edition it was a willpower test you have to roll. So I think it's still the same.
And having to roll against your own Magic Defense is already quite impossible, even without the increase of +1 after each month.

well, i doubt it's supposed to be completely and utterly crippling, so i would imagine it probably starts relatively low and achievable and then builds up to gradually be nigh impossible.

In this case, it's Step 3.
