Conceal object

Conceal object standard action strain 1
Our thief has conceal object 5. She has 5 throwing daggers which she can conceal about her person (each size 1)
Now if she does it at the start of the day are they concealed until she changes clothes/sleeps? and is that one strain and one roll to determine how well they are all hidden?
Is this how it works.... she can declare "im pulling a concealed weapon, i rolled 15 on todays concealment, (so thats his target on his perception test), if hes surprised im going to try to surprise strike him (rolls to attack)?"
If not can someone explain how it does work please)

Yes, she can conceal them all in the morning when she dresses, making a separate test and taking strain for each, and there isn't a limit for how long it lasts. (I would also accept making the roll at the time of the perception, as long as the thief declared she was concealing the daggers prior to the event. Makes bookkeeping simpler and the combat more dramatic.)
As for the surprise aspect, I've always ruled that it wasn't Surprise Surprise (meaning the target can't act that round, because that gets into weirdness) but only allows for abilities that require surprise, i.e. Surprise Strike; disallowing Avoid Blow and the like; and causing the -3 penalty to defenses against that attack only.

so 5 strain total...separate roll for each written down....or rolled at time of combat...that makes sense for dramatic combat.
Can use surprise strike, target cant use avoid blow and the like, -3 penalty to targets defences for that attack, but target can act.
Sorry i sound like a parrot repeating you....id not considered target having other penalties, was just making sure surprise strike possible...but those other effects interesting.

Yeah, it uses Capital Letter Surprise, so there are implications there.

I can see why you let them act...it seems daft and super flawed if they cant....its like giving some weird stun effect.

In my games, testing for Surprise depends on if there is active combat happening or not. If not yet in combat themselves, the Thief can try to Surprise their opponents (denying action for the round) via Concealed weapons. In active combat with an opponent, Concealed weapons instead allow for a possible Blindsided status effect, and thus another chance at the Surprise Strike talent/skill.

That makes a lot of sense Telarus... (comparing the views of you and Slim, its pretty much same thing but ones -2 ones-3 (avoid blow doesnt work on either)....in combat that is, but get impression that out of combat, he would give full surprise....could be wrong!) my goodness, shes going to be very happy reading this....especially if my elementalist gets grove renewal, and sacrifices a recovery test each morning to heal the strain!
