Do spells effect ships other than the ones specifically designed to do do so. Eg Water Spout.
As ships have no spell defence or mystic Armor I can't quite fathom an answer. I would prefer character based attacks to not damage ships/airships as some of my casters could down/sink a ship in two to three rounds (if the ship was lucky.)
Thus would make running ship combat encounters a pretty duff affair.
Ship combat and characters.

Re: Ship combat and characters.
Airships are considered Named Places, for purposes of Threadweaving (and other game rules, presumably). The ship stats are also on a different scale than character stats, so I'd avoid rolling character Effect Tests and just applying the result to the ship's damage, even with shp Armor. I'm going to have a look at the magic and spells chapters again.... maybe some of the newer optional rules in Crystal Raiders of Barsaive will clarify the scaling...
