I'll...stare at Kolbeinn for a few seconds. "...I completely forgot about that. Oh, that makes things so much easier." Also, the point of him coming along wasn't that I really wanted any help, it was just so that I could do what I need to do and still try to help with his Throalic. So...lots of spoken language practice while grooming.

Isaac: You present yourself at the Overland Trading Company offices. Upon showing the clerk the documentation for your account, you're able to withdraw 250 silver from your account. Shaliko waits until your business is done and you're back outside before speaking.

"Earlier, you weren't willing to trust Mekhitar any further than you could throw a riverboat. Now you're willing to have him be our front man and make our travel arrangements? Are you certain about this?"

Torana, you and Kolbeinn spend a couple of hours working on his Throalic and getting your animals groomed. Kolbeinn works better with the ice flyers than with your horse, but then his ability to shroud his hands in icy mist seems to help there.

"I don't trust Mekhitar. I'm not saying that we make him our representative, we'll be accompanying him in any case. As a troubadour, though, the man likely has a silver tongue, and that could be useful. I don't believe in ignoring things that might have a use, so I want to see how he acts in this situation. Rest assured though, if he does anything strange or untoward then I'll know that he is of no use after all, and it will give us further insight into his true nature if he does."

I'll bring the brow of my hat down to give my eyes some shade and walk in the direction of the inn. "In truth, this is merely pragmatism. We will have to watch him carefully though."

Isaac, when you and Shaliko get back to the Breaching Sunfish, you find Mekhitar parked on a tall stool by the fireplace, performing for the two tables of customers present. He wraps up his song, an old t'skrang standard about a young man making his first voyage post-kaissa as a real crewman, acknowledges the few handclaps he gets as i it were thunderous applause from a massive crowd, then bounds off the stool, scooping up a tin cup from the floor and checking the jingle in it and he heads toward the bar. Garsevan is already there, sipping a glass of wine and looking quite pleased with himself.

"Oh, and while we're here," Shaliko says, "we should ask Gudrun to examine Torana."

"I was just thinking about that. We got wrapped up in all this business with Mekhitar." I'll cast a glance around, looking for Gudrun and Torana, creasing my brow a little when looking at Mekhitar. "He's going to make this difficult. Okay, Torana and Gudrun first." After the mere glance earlier didn't reveal that much, I'll have to head on inside and quietly look around for the two of them. I can't imagine that they'd be hard to spot, what with Gudrun eclipsing practically anyone else in the bar through sheer size.

Isaac: The common room of the inn has the bar on the left side, the fireplace on the right, the stairs at the back wall on the left and the entrance to the private room on the right. You see Garsevan sitting at the bar, Mekhitar on his way to the bar, several empty tables in the seating area, two occupied tables (all t'skrang, big surprise), and the door to the private room is closed. You do not see Gudrun, Torana, or Kolbeinn in the common room.

Torana: You and Kolbeinn finish tending to your ice flyers. You're in an upstairs room at the inn, having had to pay rather steeply to put them in a room next to your own because none of the stables would take them.

Mekhitar fishes out a coin from his tin cup, and swaps it with the bartender for a beer. He regards the remaining contents of the cup sadly, then tips out the few coins and tucks them away in a small pouch hanging around his neck on a thong. The pouch goes back down under his shirt, the tin cup goes on a hook on his belt, and he parks himself next to Garsevan and sips his beer.

I'll check the private room first, since it's on the same floor. Shaliko was right, Torana's problem takes priority, I'd almost forgotten about it. Instead of barging right on in, since the door is closed I will politely knock a couple of times. If there is no response, then I'll try upstairs. For now though, I'm pretty sure that she's at least somewhere in the building.

Once the ice flyers are settled, I'll probably just be heading back to my own room...I don't really have anything to do until Isaac gets back. So...I'm not difficult to find, at least. Gudrun should be back from giving that report by now, I'd imagine...unless she had something else to do.

Isaac: When you knock on the private room's door, Gudrun calls out "Enter, Isaac." She's finishing copying her report into her journal, before delivering the original to the Promised Land embassy. "What?" she asks, without looking up from her work.

In the meantime, Shaliko is having a word with Mekhitar.
