Episode 18
This episode we break from Earthdawn a smidge (except for our e-mail section) and discuss all things small screen and big screen regarding superheroes. We talk about The Marvel movies, the DC movies, the superhero series on Netflix, the CW, and coming up on CBS. It’s our version of superhero alphabet soup courtesy of an article in Entertainment Weekly circa May 2015 (which is 6 weeks old in internet-breaking-news. We also have a correction (a la e-mail smackdown from Earthdawn line developer) about a rule we mentioned last episode. Let us never say we won’t cop to a mistake we made, because we make a lot of ‘em. Have you not learned we have no idea what we’re doing here?

EP 19!!!! We’re BACK!!! And not a moment too soon. We apologize for having been gone so long but our technical issues are now corrected and we are back in business. So with our few remaining listeners awaiting our return we dive into the idea, concepts, and actions of a Gamemaster. We skim the new preview of the Earthdawn 4th edition GM’s book. And we discuss how we run a game, manage our players, enhance our game with visual aids, and challenge the listeners who are running adventures to some daunting tasks the next time they run a game of any kind. http://www.damearthdawnpodcast.com/

Episode 21
The Force is strong with us as we delve into the Star Wars RPG, Movies, novels, Extended universe, toys, audiobooks, radio dramas, and all things Trilogy-related. We get a bit off-topic from the games but we cover some items old, new, prequel, Droid, and alien but we do bring it back around to the West End Games edition, the Wizards of the Coast D20 version, videogames, and the tabletop Star Wars games as well. And we try not to get on a soapbox about the new Force Awakens trailer. It’s just a trailer after all. We remain guardedly optimistic about Episode VII. And if you are going to spoil it for the rest of us, then you can jump into the Sarlacc pit. Live long and prosper. Oh wait. May the Force be with you.

Episode 022
Today we get all meta. As in the overall meta-plot of the Earthdawn timeline and those events laid out that directly tie in to the setting of in the current year of the 4th edition. Based on a listener question we go over how the advancement of the timeline may affect our game. And what we would do to jump-start that timeline with our player’s characters. It’s a fun listen since we had to start over at least once, so let us know if it even resembles some sort of coherent thought. Or in this case, Meta-thought. http://www.damearthdawnpodcast.com/?off ... inate=true

Yay! I was wondering when a new episode would show up.

Edit to add:

You guys talk about the timeline being advanced "50 years". I'm not sure where this comes from. Even in the very early stages of development we weren't looking at that large a jump.

ED4 is set in 1517, about 8 years after the landing of the Triumph and Varulus III's death, and (IIRC) about 5-6 years after the ED3 status quo.

Dan & Markus

The Episode that almost never was.  Ahh, recording issues.  After discovering a power-problem that left the laptop running off its battery, we saved the file and resumed our discussion, delving headlong into our listener email and answering all the questions proffered to us.  Markus mentions Star Wars:TFA (spoiler free) and we talk about 4th edition Earthdawn and the possible conversion of our characters from Earthdawn Classic.  Listeners also brought up a host of questions regarding sentient beings as combative opponents instead of creatures, Cathay, and much more.  Join us, won’t you?www.damearthdawnpodcast.com

I liked the Interaction/Intimidation Tests discussion, and you guys made a good ruling on the fly. Here's where I see Morgan's advice pointing - Impressive Display is a Talent that grants an effect over Rank Hours, +X to all social tests - depending on how well you roll your base talent/still vs target's Social Defense.

Let's assume for a moment that the acting character had the Talent at rank 1. So you can score up to +2 to all interaction tests for one hour. You would then still need to roll the Intimidation roll of Charisma vs Social Defense and score 3 total successes to intimidate them from attacking while that character is in sight (a single success would only intimidate the wolf for a round, then on the third round the wolf may attack).

I would rule that a character without Impressive Display can still try for a +2 bonus (only have to beat Soc Defense) that lasts only as long as the next interaction check or 1 round, by rolling any talent/skill vs target's Social Defense. You would then need the followup Charisma vs Social Test roll to succeed (and the duration of the Intimidation would be based on this Charisma roll).

Now consider an Adept with Impressive Display wanting to drive them all away in one round. I would allow them to roll Melee Weapons vs the Alpha Wolf's Social Defense, +1 for each additional wolf pack member. Then an Intimidation Charisma Roll vs the same difficulty to drive them all away.
