Czlaplon Quest

Nothing unusual to me about that, all the stealth and secrecy with them seems to be standard operating proceedure. Since I have no reason to be eavsedropping, and would be unable to anyway, I'll simply make my way over to them. Though I think I'll approach overhead first and then drop down. I'll still be in the open, but only if they look up. Not really an attempt to sneak up on them, just making sure they watch all the angles. If we really do need to worry about security that much on this trip, then these grounders will need to learn to think in more than two dimensions sooner or later.

"Indeed...well, we'll have to get whatever time we can to do that. Though I'd rather not meditate until our other issues are attended to." I'll fold my arms, look around the fan tail of the ship.

Shaliko raises an eyebrow at Isaac. “What other issues? Take the opportunities to improve your abilities as they present themselves.” And then he's suddenly on his feet and puts a hand right past Alston, who's dropped down from above. Half an inch and he'd have driven stiffened fingers right into Alston's midsection. “Don't sneak up on a Vorst,” he says to Alston, making eye contact.

Well, that was certainly more of a reaction than I was anticipating, but it does give credence to my line of thinking. "I made no attempts at stealth." I'll reply, returning the eye contact and with as much calm composure as possible. "I simply came from a direction you didn't anticipate." Some might call that sneaking, but I wasn't trying to conceal myself, sight or sound. I could even argue I was more exposed in the air with no cover around, but I won't bring that up or push back at all if he feels like arguing. My point was made, I hit my target. Anything further would just belittle that.

Anyway, on with the cause for my visit. "Mekhitar would like us to gather on the lounge deck at the stern end so that we can make a 'grand entrance'." I'll emphasize the last bit with a flourish and tone sarcastically mocking Mekhitar's style. I know neither of these two are very fond of the arrangements for our travel, and hopefully that will dispell a bit of the tension. "We'll still have some time to gather while Gudrun finishes preparing in her cramped quarters, but since the passengers will be gathering there too, I wouldn't waste too much time for risk of getting caught up with them." With that, unless they have more for me, I'll take my leave and head toward the lounge deck myself.

"That other issue." I'll say when Alston repeats what Mekhitar wants. "I suppose we'd better go and meet with him. It'll be good to get this over with as quickly and painlessly as possible. Alston, keep your eye out for anyone who's acting strangely once we're in the amongst all the guests. Acting a little oddly for how they look, I mean. We're thinking that someone aboard is spying on us, and disguising themselves with magic."

"Oddly how?" I'll reply quickly, in a low tone towards the river, copying the lip reading block. "What signs have you seen?" I only ask to get a better idea of what to watch out for. Though I can guess, I'm not sure exactly what purpose someone would follow us for, which denies me knowing how much of a detailed look I'll need to take.

"It'll be subtle. They're good at hiding themselves, but the have a few unnatural actions. When I spotted them, they were an elf acting shorter than the really were or appeared to be. They reflexively ducked under an awning that they were in no way tall enough to have walked into. So the actual physical form of our pursuer may be tall - but they won't look it at the moment. So just look for subtle, out of place actions, odd things that don't seem quite right...that kind of thing." I'll reply in a similarly low tone, you never know who might be listening, especially since there are more of us present now.

"Well, if it's someone bigger, we may be in luck having those in our party to compare to." Someone significantly bigger can only mean a troll or an obsidiman after all, and I think we would notice an obsidiman when the deck creaked under them. "From what I understand, Gudrun has the largest room here, and she is still having a hard time maneuvering. If we're dealing with someone of similar proportions, they'd have to be making at keast ad much noise." Unless they magically silence their room, but then we'll have an astral signature to spot. "I say we take a stroll sometime soon and mingle with some of the passengers around their rooms."

Shaliko nods. “All three of us have astral sight. We'll need to pair off with Kolbeinn, Gudrun, and Mekhitar to make sure that none of us are alone if we find anything untoward. We're not necessarily expecting a troll or an obsidiman, Alston. An elf disguised as a human would still need to duck under a low awning. But, as you said, Isaac, other issues. Even the miller must bake his own bread.” And with that, he heads off toward the gangway and the upper decks.

I'll head off with Shaliko and Alston to meet up with the others on the upper decks. I can't help but wonder what kind of entrance Mekhitar has planned for us, with a little tingle of dread.
