Kolbeinn frowns, and squints at you in that vague way that tells you he's scoping you astrally. "Can you use one of your Talents please?" he asks.
Shaliko shrugs. "Committed any heinous violations of the worldview lately?" Well, he's Vorst. They're blunt.
Garsevan has nothing to contribute.

"Of course not! ...At least, not that I can even think of..." I'll shake my head, then try to think of which talent would be best to try...probably Threadweaving since it would be visible to Kolbeinn. Well, I imagine it would, but I'm no wizard. I'll...try to raise the thread rank on the one I have woven to Andine's spell defense from 2 to 3. It's only 4 on its own, so...can't hurt to help her more anyway. I got a 24 on the Threadweaving, unless you wanted me to adjust the roll somehow.

Re: Czlaplon Quest
While Torana is meditating, I'll spend much of the morning trying to clear my head and relax a little. I'll practice my wood carving, probably soon finding myself deep in thought about our current journey and the dangers we face. Whether or not this introspective will be helpful is difficult to say. Nonetheless, I'll carve outside. The fresh air will be good for me.
When Torana looks for people I'll come with her to the dinner table and sit down. "Very strange...I'm hardly an expert on such things, but perhaps we should all meditate and see if we notice anything strange. I haven't thus far..."

Torana: Your Thread Weaving is at minus one step. Seems a little more difficult than usual. Please re-roll.
Isaac: Unfortunately, you don't have time to meditate on this right now, as the riverboat has arrived at Lake Ban, and is about to take on a harbor pilot for the approach to the Floating CIty. It's probably another candlemark or two before you tie off, but the process of making port is underway.
"We'll have to figure this out later," Shaliko says. "Right now we need to get our gear together, so that we can go ashore and find lodging. Tomorrow morning, we meet with Gudrun. A nethermancer should be able to make out any problems with your Pattern, Torana, better than us."

Alright, got 25 on the reroll, and didn't add Karma, if that makes any difference at all.

Torana: Your Thread Weaving succeeds. Pay the LPs required. It just doesn't come as easily to you.
The riverboat makes port at the Floating City. There's the usual business of customs inspection, docking fees, and getting yourselves and your gear ashore. It's an amazing place, dozens of small islands and wooden towers rising from a mat of water reeds that must be dozens of feet thick to support this entire complex. Rope bridges connect the towers at various levels, and free-hanging ropes are tethered here and there for those who wish to cross the canals between islands in a more flamboyant fashion that using the wooden bridges at water level, or taking a skiff from one part of the city to another.
Seeking lodgings won't be difficult. You've already got the Name of an inn, the Breaching Sunfish, where you're supposed to get rooms and wait for Gudrun to turn up, hopefully tomorrow morning if she's running on schedule. Making your way across the city, however, is another thing entirely. There's people, nearly all of them t'skrang, bustling about on errands, hauling goods from place to place, children playing in the walkways, merchants leaning out from their stalls to show you the bargains they have on offer, and the simple fact that these are interlinked floating islands, so there's still a little bit of movement when your mind expects stable land around the buildings.
It's with a sigh of relief that you arrive at the Breaching Sunfish, pay five silver each, get your room keys, and put your gear down in the small top-floor rooms you've each been assigned. The rooms are all pretty much the same, wooden walls, floor, and ceiling, brightened up with painted trim and a woven wall hanging. There's just enough room for a bed, a washstand, and enough floor space for your baggage. Your rooms are all together, to the left of the stairs, but there's other rooms to the right of the stairs. You don't know if they're occupied or not.
"I don't know about you," Shaliko says as you all prepare to go into your rooms, "but I'm going to drop my gear, then go find a proper bath and a hearty meal. Never pass up an opportunity to bathe, eat well, or sleep through the night."
"I'm up for that," Garsevan says, and grins. "And a bottle of good wine thrown into the bargain."

Re: Czlaplon Quest
Bathing does sound like a good plan, but it'll have to wait until I get the ice flyers situated somewhere. I'll ask around about that before leaving the dock area...no sense in leading them through the city to disturb people if I don't need to. Andine will stay with me, though.

Re: Czlaplon Quest
"Agreed. I think we could all use some rest, it's been a long trip thus far and we've a long way to go yet." I'll get to preparing the room at the inn, finding a spot to set down my things. Now isn't really a good time to see this city, since we're quite busy just now, but maybe one day. If there are limited numbers of baths then I'll let the others go before me. This would be a good chance to catch up on reading some of those books the Crimson Face gave me - out of sight of the other patrons of course.

Re: Czlaplon Quest
Torana:
The stables (all two of them, and tiny establishments they are) near the docks don't want to have anything to do with your ice flyers. They spook the horses. The inquiries you make generally result in laughter. "If people have that little jik'harra that your beasties would frighten them, they'll never achieve haropas! Parade your winged beasties through the city all you wish!" You end up paying an extra ten silver at the inn for a room for the ice flyers, and some fresh meat for their dinner.
This being a t'skrang city, the nearest bath house is just a few steps away from your inn. It's also of fair size, with the cold bath being a private lagoon, a fenced-off part of the lake directly beneath the bath house, a hot pool big enough for ten people, more if they're really friendly, and a shower area for washing off before bathing. You each pay three silver for basic services - entry, a chunk of soap, and a towel. They've got a very small selection of scented oils for Name-givers with hair. Isaac, there is no private area in the bath house, other than a small curtained alcove for the privy. Body modesty and an amphibious lifestyle don't mesh well.
You discover that Shaliko has some really complex tattoos down his back and wrapping around his left leg. If you ask about them, though, all he says is "it's nethermancy stuff", and doesn't want to talk about them any further.
Post bathing, you have the option of returning to the inn for your evening meal, or finding a trisnari, or getting food from a cart on one of the walkways. Garsevan is all for going out, as the t'skrang invented the concept of the trisnari. Shaliko is indifferent. Food is food. Kolbeinn withholds opinion, as he doesn't have enough experience with this sort of thing to make a judgement.

Re: Czlaplon Quest
Fair enough. I'll still take the time to get the ice flyers settled and a bit of grooming before heading off to the baths. Might as well all go the trisnari, then, and stay together. We don't really know each other all that well yet, and it might be important later to at least have a little familiarity. Besides, if Kolbeinn hasn't really had the experience, then he might enjoy taking advantage of the opportunity...and also the translators, since I'm not sure how good his Throalic is yet and I highly doubt he speaks T'skrang.
