The simplicity and purism is intentional. It's not meant to be old school or retro, simply clean, functional, and to the point.

If we get around to making a Deluxe Edition, however, that would be a different creature. However, that would also likely be a Limited Edition release...

Interesting how the ships on the front cover are both Barbarian designs; and ones which use the respective from the miniature line for A Call to Arms: Noble Armada. (But then, since it's been noted that NA3 will use the same minis as ACtA:NA, it makes sense to have them line up; though I am surprised there wasn't one of the Royal House ships added in, too.)

Does this reflect a change in the ship art within the book proper, in that all of the hulls shown now look the same as their Mongoose-made equivalents; or do some of them retain their older hull layouts? (And if they do all look the same now, was that due to Holistic wishing both licence-holders to present a common front design-wise, or more of an agreement between Mongoose and RedBrick/FASA 2.0 themselves?)

Holistic Design, Inc. supplied the artwork/designs to Mongoose, so it's natural for the designs to line up. Same source...

what I mean is that there are certain ships that have been re-imagined for the ACtA:NA mini line; for example, the Kurgan Majahidin Raider looks quite different in the old Star Crusade book compared to how shows it.

In such cases, will the revised edition Fading Suns books use the old layout, or the new one; or simply say that both exist in-universe? (Perhaps one shipyard has a different, yet functionally-equivalent model that fulfils the same role.)

Just wondering what the differences are between the Revised and the previous (2nd edition I think) edition? Mainly looking at how difficult it would be to use FSR to run the adventures out of Shards/

There's no plans for a conversion booklet, but here's the major differences (not comprehensive):

* Minor house information included
* VPs are now goal roll/2
* 19-20 "whiff" factor is gone
* Spiritual characteristics replace opposed traits
* Streamlined Lifepath System
* Skills pruned back
* Changes to Traits and costs
* Inclusion of Fighting Styles
* Updates to Psi and Theurgy powers
* Overhauled Combat system (simpler and faster)
* Expanded Technology and Vehicles chapters
* More ways to kill people in the Armory chapter
* Options for Energy Shields
* Revisions to Cybernetics
* Guidelines for roleplaying Starship activities
* Few more examples of starships

That's a quick starter for 10 firebirds until the Line Developer has a chance to add to this thread.
