He died in captivity and his body was used to plant false information with his Decados budies. But, that can't be 'your' Grigor, as he was likely not a count. The search continues...

In frustration I did a search on my computer and found a file that I'd been editing several years ago, which includes a description of the Philosopher's Stone known as "The Sathra Stone". This stone offers instant teleportation to any location on the planet you're on. It was (re)discovered by Count Grigor during the Emperor Wars, and in 4987 he disappeared and was subsequently found dead in polar ice, having accidentally teleported into a glacier.

Now, although this took care of my initial frustration, I now cannot for the life of me figure out from which book this is from! My to-edit file only has the text, not the source information. Anoying! :p
