Veridian, Viridian, Imperial City...

From various reading, these places seems to be uncertain. Care to explain if you know?
Veridian seems to be the central BSII continent.
Viridian seems to be the same as Veridian, but also seems to be the Imperial city and also seems to be a city different than the Imperial City.
Bizarre.
