Ideas and story fillers

Postby Holz » Fri Jan 08, 2016 5:20 pm

Well, I see a lot of these hooks and ways to start a plot for medieval or fantasy games. Some I can adapt to Fading Suns, but most I just feel disappointed. So I made a few, in the hope to give others a way to start a plot, an adventure or just food for thought.
Please, post your ideas too! :D

Race is going to happen on the city, with all kinds of animals. PC’s may ride on one of them. Players may bet, if they make the correct bet, they win 5x the amount.

A man wants a small crate transported to another place. He will pay 1.000 FBs. Deal is, they move and must not open it.

A priest known for his mad delusions, rambles about a pendant stolen from a noble’s neck, by a thug, with a scar on his face. Moments later the PC’s see the thug onto the noble (PC character) and steal the necklace.

On Pandemonium, rumors of 4 entities with prophetic powers roam, giving advice, knowledge or healing people. They ask strange tasks in return.

Man claims to have been a slave for seven years to the Vuldrok. After that he became one of them. So he thought to show the Known Worlds that some Vuldrok really are different.

Miner and engineers discover a series of tunnels on an ancient mine on a moon. Inside the maze-tunnels that go deeper and deeper leading to a large chamber. What could they find here?

An invitation to a birthday by noble twins, leads to distrust as one accuses the other of having the key to chest full of family treasures.

As a pilgrimage passes by the party, the priests ask for donations of faith.

A Reeve calls an accusation against one on the party for being under some strange local law. If he does not pay the fee, he will go to jail.

A priest and a guild member argue loudly in the street, calling the attention of a lot of people. After leaving the scene, the players notice that they have been robbed.

Outside a cathedral two groups of people yell at each other, stating that the cathedral belongs to each other sect.

A charioteer tries to sell fusion cell powered gizmos to a village with no electrical power. Will the commoners keep ignoring him?

A freeman starts to follow the PC’s and makes notes. If asked, he wants to join the group and learn their skills.

An independent artist has no job, due to the guild pressure on making him join their ranks.

As the old ruler dies with no direct heirs, two nobles duel to determinate the new ruler. But others are plotting behind their backs.

Bad times hit a village and they blame a warlock. A serf searches for clues so his lord can deal with the warlock.

The church made it illegal to play games on the scraver casino. They are in trouble to pay their bills now.

A stranger wants to ride along the players. He will pay his own fares. Players don’t know, but he is escaping the fief.
To hell with information, ammunition is ammunition.

If brute for ain't working you ain't using enough.

Nice list! Could make a good adventure from each of those! :) Some of them I think could launch a whole campaign.

Let's see if I can add a couple

- A noble raids a local churches coffers to fund his private vendetta and now the priest wants payback.

- An animal breeder has created a new breed of dog that is highly-intelligent, but someone has stolen all the puppies for themselves. The breeder will pay a high price to get those puppies back

- Ukari have begun a revolt on Criticorum and the local nobles are trying to cover it up. The uprising coincides with an increase in Muster acquisitions of those with psychism.

Li Halan Noble's lands are haunted by the Ghost of his son killed in the Emperor Wars. He is slowly going mad and his subjects are suffering from his grief. A young Li Halan Noble approaches the PCs claiming to be the son of the Noble, cast out by his father many years ago. He believes the phantom that plagues his father is a ruse and begs the players to help him expose the con men that are abusing the Noble.

Rural peasants greet the characters with glad tidings as they travel through their town and implore them to take part in the festival. The festival's is colorful with songs and delicious, albeit simple, food and drink. Through a game of chance one of the PC's is elected to play the role of the generous lord and they find out that they are expected to pay each woman of marrying age in the village 10 FB for their wedding. Peasants seem aghast that the PCs would accept their hospitality but not carry out their role as tradition dictates. The more closely the festival is examined the more strange it seems and the more nervous the good peasants become.

One of the players is accosted in the streets of a foreign city by an elderly noble that seems certain they are married. Stranger still the greater lengths the player goes to to convince this delusional local noble the more they encounter people that believe the noble's claim and even claim to have seen them together. Later a group of Skraver thugs approach the PC and tell them that Boss Hanta has been very patient but it's time to pay their debts or else.

The PC's encounter a small town where people are busily barricading their homes and shops. When they can stop someone to get an explanation they're told that terrifying monsters come down from the mountains at night and drag off screaming townsfolk. The Sun sinks lower on the horizon.
