The Quest for the lost Item of Sir/Saint Macguffin

So have you ever run a Fading Suns dram or Epic where the purpose was the recovery of a specific or legendary item? Perhaps a sacred relic or significant or unique item of technology?

What was the backstory of the object and what were it's abilities.

(I'm ignoring or excluding Philosopher's Stones from this as they are kind of deus ex machina level above the sort of object I'm talking about)
"The crazy ol' Vorox"

Something witty, pithy and observant ought to go here.

Oh well.

Well my current campaign/epic deals on finding the key that has been split in 3, hence called the Trinity, which takes to the shield/fortress world of Balcora.

The key is large due to the fact that the gate is different and needs more calculations to open it, and was manufactured aboard the Cygnus, an exploratory ship on late 2nd Rep.. On Balcora, something happened (in case my players are reading here, not writing) and the ship came back to the KW, the remaining crew split the key in three and hind them on different planets and plunged the ship into a planet, so it could not be found.
Players don't know, but on Balcora the gate's name is called the Eye of Arran. The gate can take you to any system you want... if you have the coordinates.

Hope these were not too deus dx machina.

We've chased down a voting rod on Ivar, A submersible warship at the bottom of the ocean on Malignitus, a 50lbs psychic amplifying crystal on Manitau and a Kurgan Holy flux sword in a museum in Aragon. People in the fading Suns universe really suck at holding onto their stuff.

The Hazat fiefs book recounted the tale of one such relic. While I haven't been in a similar situation myself in Fading Suns, I can suggest other things which might be of interest:

-Formula/schematics for a bit of lost technology.
-A personal effect belonging to Vladimir Alecto, the Prophet or any other famous historical character
-A voting scepter
-In an online game I am involved in, a major plotline is the works of an eskatonic priest who codified the Vorox language into written form to better teach them the Omega Gospel. This is currently causing a lot of controversy.
-A sacred text of the Omega Gospel which contains knowledge the Church has suppressed (think Da Vinci Code... IN SPACE).

I have my players running all over the web in search of "the five sisters" - five specific lesser Gargoyles used as "locks" to keep a sleeping horror in bed.
Real McGuffin style scavenger hunt there :)

Our last session saw them re-finding one that a sinister archaeologist had stolen from them AND getting their hands on one that was in a private collection of an Al Malik noble woman. They got that one by marrying one of the players to her through a long series of negotiations, leveraging certian things she wanted (a fief among other less savory things) and by basically making him her vassal.
Originally I thought they'd attempt a break and enter job so I had an elaborate map of her estates complete with guard rounds and what not - but a s usual players tend to go their VERY own ways which led to tons of fun.
Especially since the teams Avesti confessor has taken a very keen interest in keeping the now married playboy in strict fidelity.

And what better way to celebrate Mr. Bogenriefs birthday (according to my G+ that's the day we played) than to have a Fading Suns wedding on Criticorum? :)

Anyway the five gargoyles don't really do anything, except keep a Lovecraftian space-horror from Qlippoth from ruining all the fun. Of course the players aren't the only ones looking for them and not all interested parties are so altruistic :)
