Re: Launching a non-lander hulled ship
In our specific case it was an atmposphere hull and the Cadre had it slingshotted into orbit using a mass driver at the main planetary spaceport ...

Re: Launching a non-lander hulled ship
It would be an unusual crash that left a void ship in piece big enough that you couldn't load it into the back of a tiny shuttle and fly it up in 100,000 trips. The first problem is not smashing into a mountain. Void ships steer a lot like a train that isn't on a track, or the ground. They don't set down where you want them unless you a a godlike pilot and even then they may not land on their belly or even in a forward direction. Next you have a ship with no super-structure or landing gear to set down on, just being in gravity would be hard enough on most void ships but resting on the ground for any length of time would probably make it no longer spaceworthy.
A lander could be returned to the void most certainly. It's ruined hull could easilly be lifted slowly into the void by a harness of support cables tethered to a team of other landers, perhaps even shuttles. More easily the ship could be repaired on the ground and fly back into the void, at the point where it can hold atmosphere and propel itself forward it can pretty easily manage a winged-takeoff.

I like the analogy of trying to launch one of these into space http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cargo_ship
Is it doable? Yes.
Would it be horribly complicated and expensive as Gehenne? Oh yes!
