Bookmarked PDFs?

Postby ZombiWan » Fri Jan 27, 2012 11:09 pm

Hey, all!

A few years back, I bought nearly all of the Earthdawn Classic PDFs. Each of these had extensive bookmarks. I absolutely loved these resources as it seriously lighten the load I had to tote back and forth to game.

Now, I have started picking up the 3rd Edition stuff. I love the content, but none of the books have any bookmarks. This makes it somewhat bothersome to use PDFs at the game table. Are there any plans to add bookmarks to these?

Thanks!

Hi Zombiwan,

Sorry. There are no plans to add more extensive bookmarking to the ED3 PDFs other than what is already in them.

Kind regards, James

Dang, that's too bad, but thanks for the reply. I guess that is the downside to getting these particular books in PDF.

Having bookmarked my copies down to the 3rd heading I'll tell you, it increases the file size dramatically. Not to mention, doing it myself I have learned a lot more about where stuff is located in the books.

It's best done in the source files, which is how I managed it for EDC. However, I was not involved with ED3 layout, sorry, so the bookmarking present in the PDFs was added after the fact, which is why it's limited to the basics.

I have all of the 3rd Edition books, and recently picked up a few from DTRPG. I'm new to the books in PDF, and was wondering if anyone had any insight as to how to get started (at least) bookmarking them. I suppose my issue is this: The Third Edition Player's Guide has bookmarks already, they just don't work at all. Any suggestions?

If you do not own a copy of Acrobat Pro, bookmarking PDFs can be a bit of a pain,
here are three resources with instructions.

I hope this helps.

Thanks, Dru. Apparently, those don't like my computer. They kept bringing up error messages. I went ahead and picked up Acrobat Pro. Do you have to embed an index? Or is there a way to remove/edit the existing broken bookmarks?

Any chance I could get a PM with that process as well?

It would certainly be appreciated.
