Would a spellcaster definitely know that astral interference was to blame? would he or she need to perceive it astrally yo dispell it?

I would say that any Wizard worth their salt would have a pretty good chance of knowing what is going on (though Novice Wizards might have a slightly harder time of it since they don't learn the talent until 5th Circle). Other Disciplines would have a harder time, since they don't have the talent.

Astral sensing would potentially give insight to the cause -- the talent effect would show as a cloud of astral energy covering the area of effect. Though the talent also affects astral sensing, so it would be a little harder to pick up on that. Without Astral Sensing... it depends on what the magician in question knows about magic and how Wizards can mess with that. After all, Astral Interference isn't the only way to make it harder to affect people with spells.

Yup. There are a few different tools available now, and the tool that's suited to a particular task will depend on what you're trying to do.

I think the talent options have enough good choices available that there won't end up with one build to rule them all. It largely will depend on your game and what you're trying to accomplish.

A follow up question popped into my head.

Since Astral Interference targets a Mystic Defense and affects anyone inside the radius. Can it be resisted with Steel Thought?
