Yes Danger Sense is tested when you already trigger the trap. Before that you are in no danger because trap is not activated.

Ultimately, it depends on the trap.

For example, you could have the classic 'crossbow pointed at the door' trap that might require an Attack test in order to hit the target that triggers it. Alternately, you could have a character that successfully beats the trap's Initiative result to use Avoid Blow against a set DN.

Ok, so from other thread:

When you use Danger Sense to avoid a trap, then it counts as your Initiative against trap and you can try to avoid it (jump off, get out of the AoE or sth).

When you use Danger Sense against an ambush and you score higher result than ambusher's Initiative you are not considered Surprised (no penalties to Defenses, you can act and roll your usual Initiative - including armor modifiers).


I think a question concerning Steel Thought and it's protection against AoE magical effects, but first I need to check description to be more specific.
