Need some clarifications with the ritual spells.
Some of the spells need more time to weave the threads, be it one thread par hour, to even one thread per week for Weapon back for example. What happens with those when you use additionnal thread ?
Casting Weapon back with 2 additionnal thread (to reinforce the effect for it to be really usable by someone without Willforce) would then takes 4 weeks instead of 2 ? Wouldn't the duration compared to casting time become really low then ? To maintain it, it's almost like you have to begin casting it again as soon as you finished the previous casting.
Also on ritual spells, is the spell matrix "locked" on that spell for the whole duration of the weaving ? It's not really problematic for a spell with threads each hour, but if the duration is longer, it can be much more crippling for the magician.

Re: [ED4] Ritual spells and additionnal threads
In Companion there will be rules to make spell patterns permanent (once cast spell lasts for ever) so its all ok with weaving the thread for a week.
You weave the the ritual week thread for 8 hours every day (you cook and eat something in the middle of each daily weaving process so its like +1 hour), or some other requirements are in spells description.
And dont forget that you weave 1 more thread for every success on Weaving test (PG p.256 "1. Weave Threads into Spell").

Re: [ED4] Ritual spells and additionnal threads
I agree that removing the spell from the matrix will remove all woven threads, i.e. you've been performing a ritual and then later try to reattune-on-the-fly a different matrix in combat, get struck and fail your Concentration check (thus wiping all your spell matrices), you don't get to keep the ritual threads.
On the subject of "extra threads", try not to over think it : At the time of casting, the mage selects the desired effect (limited by Discipline Status Rating for extra thread effects). This sets the number of necessary threads to successfully cast the spell. Each Threadweaving roll gives one threads per success until you have enough to complete the spell pattern you decided on.
Then, bonus Spellcasting successes can give other bonus effects depending on the spell.

Re: [ED4] Ritual spells and additionnal threads
So, just to make it perfectly clear:
If you want to cast spell with 4 threads and you add 3 extra threads because you are Circle 9-12, for just this casting attempt it becomes a spell with 7 threads to weave. And now you test Weaving talent as normal till you get all 7 weaved ( count extra successes).
