Re: We're going to need a bigger Step table
Personally, I've been running bonus damage a straight modifier to the damage roll, rather than modifying the step. It flows a little easier and saves having to recalculate steps on the fly quite as much (which can slow things down).

So do I, but because its possible to have big basic dmg step you need at least steps to step 60
Obsidiman Str step 10,
2handed obsidiman/troll weapon fully forged (9+15) 24
Crushing Blow 15+5 (group pattern) 20
total 54
and we still have thread weapons and other magic items

The companion will probably have a more extensive table, because you need to be getting into the C9+ range in order to see totals that high.

If I ever get a character that needs that table, I'm rolling the dice. Just because that would be awesome and everyone else can just grin and bear it

Re: We're going to need a bigger Step table
If people want to have the damage bonus from extra successes modify the step, by all means, go for it. Heck, maybe use part of your character sheet to put down the dice for +1 success, +2 success, etc. so you have them handy to grab if you want to go that route.
Personally, I tend to go with long-term bonus is a Step modifier (so it gets written down on the character sheet), one-time bonus is result modifier.
But either way works.

Re: We're going to need a bigger Step table
This thread made me realize that you added the d20 back into the step table. What was the reasoning for this?
