The comparison of the 6th and 4th Circle Warriors is instructive.
It's not an isolated incident, either. There are a LOT of cases in Earthdawn where the apparent diversity/complexity of the game still winds up producing characters that are functionally similar. Glad to see that they're working to eliminate this issue.

One other thing I want to mention, kind of connected to this (but not mentioned in the blog post).
Karma no longer costs legend to purchase (as in ED3R) and instead of only getting #rank points per day, performing your Karma Ritual refreshes your pool entirely (this is new); moving it to resemble more of a bonus-die type mechanic.
We're tinkering with the idea of allowing adepts to spend karma on any talent they know, but that could have some pretty far-reaching effects on play balance and the numbers that get tossed around in game, so it is undergoing testing and simulation.

Interesting stuff. I was unsure about it at first as well. It definitely will speed character (& NPC & Creature) creation times. And I can easily see design spaces used to boost Durability above the base Circle.... (Warrior secrets, Talent Knacks, blood-charms, spells, etc).

. . . Thread weaving? Plus on the downside blood magic can lower your effective death rating. I see your reasoning about durability.
All of the rules regarding multi-disciplining seemed enormously complex. It would be good if they could be thinned down.
