Insurance

Has anyone given thought to the changes and impact that shipping insurance would have on the trading Houses of Throal? The Houses all maintain their own investments at this point. What if someone were to organize a company selling insurance on merchant ships, and offer it to all the Houses? See the impact this had on Dutch and English trading in the 1700s for where I'm going with this. Beyond that, what about shared investment? A few Name-givers put up some gold on shares of the profits from the voyage, and all of a sudden ships have a lot more capital available to buy cargoes or trading. I've already introduced the idea of using tea houses as stock exchanges off in the Kirghiz Khaganate, which survives partly on the trade along what we know now as the Silk Road. Bring that idea back to Throal and the people of the wedshel could find themselves becoming investors and moving into the estates.
