Dangers of the Mist Swamps

My players are heading into the Mist Swamps in search of a root that provides palliative care for people suffering from the disease from the Poison Forest. Has anybody put together a guide of which creatures come from which regions/habitats?

Not yet, but I really want to do this. I have a Wiki tool I'm learning for Earthdawn campaign management that would help organize lists like this. Thanks for the idea.

In my ED, the Mist Swamps are not a place of perillous beast or horrors, but of terrible plants and insects, and of course of desease. And not giant plants or giant insects, just millions of small ones :P

For example, while the party was sleeping, a rolling moss covered one of the player and attach itself to his skin via blood magic. A nasty parasite that had a strange side effect of boosting Mystic armor. The next day, the group was attacked by a swarm of insects, which laid eggs into the skin. There was also on the trip leechs in the water, a venomous plant (like a fly trap) that attacked the party, a full blown outbreak of fever, etc.

The foresakin place was not the land of horrors and such, but it made the trip even more scarier! On a side note, the team didn't find the exploration fun and condemn that place, never to come back.

Oh, my namesake (Telarus the Elf Archer) and party fought a giant Eel in the mist swamps. Our Swordsmaster skinned it and made a cloak and cowl out of it.

Wood elementals might be interesting given the nature of the expedition. I would emphasize the terrain almost more than creatures. Quicksand near a campsite, a slippery fallen log over boiling mud, a huge alligator treated as a trap that snags one hapless adventurer and pulls him or her under so that the others have no clue what happened other than a short scream, a splash, and roiling water. Battles would be plagued by poor visibility, obstructionist vegetation, waterlogged footing, and random bites from startled snakes (also treated as traps). Oversized carnivorous plants - not just the classic Venus fly, but also pitcher plants that sucker windlings and ones that secrete sticky sap.
But add in some wonder - huge, beautiful flowers that smell so sweet Namegivers are literally intoxicated by the scent. A ruined temple with fantastic mosaics. Butterflies the size of a dwarf's head. Uproarious birdsong. Incandescent sunrises and sunsets. Really good fishing. And so on.

Remember as well that the Mist Swamps are the domain of the Great Dragon Aban, and she will certainly be aware of the group's presence (even if she doesn't make a personal appearance).

The Assassin's branch of the Hand of Corruption also operates out of the Mist Swamps.

And add the natural hazards of a misty swamp. If close to death's sea it may even be a scalding hot fog. And all kinds of predators can take advantage of the fact the adventurers can't see very much in front of them (even with heat sight, because the fog hampers that too). Navigation will also be a pain since vision is very limited, causing the danger to get lost in the swamp to be very real. The humidity will not do well for equipment either, and rations may spoil faster. All in all it's a very tough place to travel in and the difficulty for wilderness survival and navigation should reflect this.
