karma use and other questions in 4th ed

hi! we are trying to use as many new rules from the new edition as possible in the meantime, thats how the questions arose.

1) For instance the swordmaster gets the ability: karma use on interaction tests. Does it mean, that he can use karma on conversation, diplomacy, etiquette, etc tests, effectively all of them becoming discipline talent for him? Can he use karma on skills too? on a simple charisma test?

2) The Sky raider gets the ability to use karma on recovery test. Does it mean he can use 2 karma dice on fireblood?

3) Durability: Do we think it correctly, that for a N-th circle character, he is like automatically having level N-1 durability in the sense of the old (3rd ed) rules? (perhaps with different modifiers, so always having extra (N-1)*x unsconciousness rating where x depends on the discipline)

4) Karma ritual: Do we think it correctly, that for a N-th circle character, he is like automatically having level N Karma Ritual talent in the sense of the old (3rd ed) rules? so he gains cirle number of karma points each time he does the ritual?

thanks again! (u are kind of a developer, and the players guide cant be bought yet, right? or can it? )

actually i thought it was a good mechanic that there were two levels of expertness of every given talent: those who could spend karma, and those who couldnt. (pros and "amateurs")

and this change also increases the power gap between adepts and non-adepts, which i dont like at first glance.

But im curious.

Could u help us out with the special ability of the swordmaster on 1st and 3rd circle? He gets the karma on interaction tests according to Panda, but we dont know at which circle.

Interaction tests are basically any time you're rolling straight Charisma to convince someone to do something. What social talents tend to do is either give you a bonus to your Charisma roll (Winning Smile, Lasting Impression) or modify the difficulty of the roll (First Impression, Diplomacy, Etiquette). I believe that Swordmasters can spend Karma on Interaction Tests starting at 3rd Circle.

I have noticed that the skyraider now gets climbing as a discipline talent, and gets air sailing as an optional talent. I find this a little surprising. I wonder what is the idea behind it.

As Panda said, most of those _replace_ the "Interaction Test", which are limited to what is defined in the GMG.

The quotes are being pulled from the 4th edition "pre-art preview" that some of us got to proof-read for errors.

Swordmaster (4th ed) - Karma on Interaction Tests the 3rd Circle karma ability. "Combat" class characters do not get a "free" ability(talent equivalent) at first circle (contrast w/ the Thief who gets "Danger Sense" as a talent-equivalent ability at 1st Cicle). This is all separate from Half-magic, as well.
