Reserved Dealy Actions

A topic we have been discussing recently in our game is why reserve an action?
It states a reserved action happens just before the opponent acts dependant on your trigger event. A delayed action happens at the same time and as it also states that tied initiative allows the player to resolve 1st, Out side of swooping attacks why do that?
