I had the idea to start a thought experiment, to flesh out understanding of the world of ED.
"How would the world be different if [Discipline X] never existed?"
Let's start with Elementalist.

All enchanting via True Elements now involves bargaining with a spirit (the "Elementalist's Pact" hinted at in the setting never went down). As such, Shamans, Nethermancers and Wizards are now key to Elemental Mining, and you must payoff the local spirits with grand ceremonies before searching for True Elements. Shamans would have the best chance of simply dominating local elementals via their will (Elementals getting folded into the "Nature Spirit" category). Certain spells (or very similar versions) would be developed by other casting Disciplines.
How many replies until we change the topic?

The beliefs of Name Givers shape the world around them. Would elemental spirits even exist in their present form without Elementalists to summon them?

weaponsmiths would be the new elementalists, they gain access to elementalists spells in warden circles, right?
Or in a universe without elementalists, weaponsmiths would be different as well?
