Hi just checking if people think Air Armour and Mage Armour stack?
Mage armour says "spell enhances the toughness and resilience of armor" while air armour says "This spell creates a protective cushion of air. ..If successful, air rushes in under the target’s clothing, pushing outward to create a cushion and providing padding as well as ventilation"
Mechanics seem very different and I think there is a rule of 3 or something that allows one thing to be buffed by multiple sources but wanted to check.
Also would Mage Armour work on things like blood pebble armour? Is on the armour table but its stones imbedded in your skin!

Re: Stacking Armour Buffs from DIfferent Sources
as i have always understood it its basicly with the rules of 3 like this.
any physical armor (held shields, worn mail wether or not enchanted) stacks.
next to that 3 extra buffs apply. every source that is not armor is 1 buff .
so these spells would stack and 1 more source could be added, for instance an amulet that gives 2 natural armour.
this would give you the 3 max buffs.
on the other hand, if you are the GM and bufs are logical enough to stack for you, then by all means do so

the rule of 3 was present for sure in the first edition.
I dont have read anything about it in the third edition
we will wait Arma as usual to clarify our troubles !

Its on Page 18 in the EDC version, however it is not to be found in the ED3 version, and I checked both GM and Players Core and Companions. And it is even missing from the Optional Rules Table on page 300 of the ED3 Players Guide.
I would suspect to keep the number of pages down and meet some kind of standards for Mongoose.
A simple format is : Base Value + Buff One + Buff Two + Buff Three (you count the three highest bonuses)

Re: Stacking Armour Buffs from DIfferent Sources
We dropped the Rule of Three from 3rd because it messed with abilities too much. Basically, stacking bonuses is what you do to get by starting at Journeyman Level, and it was a part of Discipline design to allow such stacking bonuses. A couple of talents and a magic item meant all other ways of buffing you became moot, and many spells and talents that others would use on you became useless.
Note it only ever applied to determining steps AFAIK, so wouldn't cover this situation at all anyway.
While we're at that: By RAW, they stack.
Yeah, it's a hell of an armor rating, but it requires the resources of two Disciplines. And buffing their buddies in that way is what they're there for, and why they're less versatile on the offensive.
