Can you cast multiple duration damage spells on 1 Target?

The rules say you cannot stack beneficial effect spells (eg. you cannot cast air armour on yourself twice for 6 pnts of armour) but I'm not so clear about damage spells,

For example if you cast Doom Missle it continues to do damamge to the target for a number of rounds.

1. Can you then cast another one so the target is taking damamge from 2 seperate Doom Missles at the same time?
2. What if 2 different casters cast them?
3. If not and you are using the Talent knack that allows you to cast 2 spells at the same time can you cast 2 Ephemeral bolt spells at the same time at the same target? (most attack spells say they have a duration of 1 rnd so exist for more than a split second and they would both be targetting the same target) :crazy:

I don't think the 'no stacking effects' rule applies to direct damage spells. I mean, I could see the argument against it, but when the effect is, essentially, "deals damage" ruling 'no stacking' on that seems to neuter having multiple spellcasters in a group, or even what a single caster may be able to (if you have longer duration or AoE damage effects). Since "Sprit Dart" and "Arcane Missile" are both direct damage, mystic armor resisted spells, does one preclude the use of the other on the same round? That doesn't really make any sense

I would say that (as nasty as it sounds) you could stack Doom Missile in the way you describe.

"There can be only one" applies to both beneficial and harmful spells.

I wouldn't apply that to 1-round damage spells (their Duration could as well read "instant"), since the spirit of the rule is about continuous and/or recurring effects -- it might make more sense if it was a Duration rule, not an Effect rule, but that might cause confusions with just how you count the time, as multiple versions of spells can exist on a target, but simply don't affect it. Using Spell Stacking to cast the same spell twice usually isn't as effective as giving it two separate tries, in any case.

Thanks for the clarification Arma, I could understand that viewpoint but two casters both casting the same "1 rnd" duration damage spell and only 1 working made be lean tothe "only 1/caster" or just "stack away" ideas which on the other hand would be painful with mulicasted Doom Missles..
