Re: Alternate crit/fumble rules

I disagree with the nerf element to psychics. Previously, unless you were a psychic/theurge, you had nothing to spend Wyrd on. It was a useless stat that just sat there and did nothing. Only psychics really got to use it any. With the new rule set, people have a legitimate use for Wyrd now. It's not...

Re: Languages and reading fs player's guide

Peasants reading: This is a culture thing, really. In the Protestant West, peasants were routinely literate (enough to read the Bible) from TL2 times onwards. And there's a FS planet that I just read about (can't remember which as I have been reading a lot of the Imp. Surveys lately) where even pea...

Re: Languages and reading fs player's guide

The Original levels one was stupid, but I liked the buying it and being done one. While I do appreciate the level of detail the levels gives, it's unnecessary in my opinion. It gets in the way too much. The literacy element, for me at least, has less to do with mechanics and more to do with the feel...

Re: Languages and reading fs player's guide

I would not assume that characters who learn to speak a language can read and write it as well. The game has clearly defined itself as being one of low literacy levels. It is a Dark Age after all. The rules separated the ability to speak a language from reading it since the first edition and continu...

Re: Fading Suns Player's Guide (Revised Edition)

I understand, I think we all do. I just wanted to get an update on when I can expect to get a copy in my grubby little hands. That and I kinda want a real book to pass around instead of just using my tablet.

Re: Fading Suns Player's Guide (Revised Edition)

By the way, when can we expect the printed copies of the book to be shipped out?

Re: Fading Suns Quiz

I call shenanigans on this question. It requires knowledge from outside Fading Suns.

Re: Fading Suns Player's Guide (Revised Edition)

That sounds about right to me. I'm not sure I like it though. It seems like a really cheap way to remove shields from the game and with how expensive they are (shields), their limited field of coverage (5/10), they don't stack with any real armor unless you buy the really expensive shields, and ther...

Re: Fading Suns Player's Guide (Revised Edition)

I had a question about the Breaker quality you can give to melee weapons. It doesn't list a duration. How long does it keep the shield down for? Does it just have to be recharged now? The description just says it turns off the shield and ends there. I can make up my own rules, I'm just trying to und...
