Re: Disbelieving Illusions
The illusionist pretending to be the old beggar launches his attack, casting "STOP RIGHT THERE" and freezing you and your companions. He then blasts the first one with Ephemeral Bolt (hoping for a good amount of damage without a Sensing Test), but it causes a Wound and the character makes...

Re: Disbelieving Illusions
No Strain, but here are the current drawbacks: "If the spell is not an illusion, however, the target’s Mystic Defense is considered to be 2 for the purpose of determining the number of successes, as they have opened themselves up to the magic. In addition, the target cannot use any active defen...

Re: Disbelieving Illusions
I usually try to determine the Illusionist's spells ahead of time (semi-randomly), and alternate or throw a dice to decide if the NPC illusionist will cast the True or Illusion version. Hm, some of that language seems to have been edited out of 4th edition. Disbelief also no longer costs a standard ...

Re: Disbelieving Illusions
It applies after you or some-one you witness shakes off a damage effect. Keep in mind that not all Illusionists know both copies of the spell, and that illusionary damage is "real" for all purposes unless you manage to sense/disbelieve it, or it pushes you past your KO rating (anything pas...

Re: Map Printout
I love maps, & created the Atlas of Barsaive pdf by overlapping and over-drawing all the 1st edition maps in Adobe Illustrator (which a german artist then used to paint the current 4E book-map). Here yah go: http://earthdawn.blogspot.com/2011/05/enhanced-atlas-of-barsaive.html It is a "full...

Re: Weaving Threads to Pattern Items
The only thing you are missing in the Pattern Item step is c) obtain the pattern item AND ROLL Item History to confirm your research knowledge is what is needed in the Test Knowledge. It comes down to: You need both things [Test Knowledge via Item History talent] and [Research Knowledge from Rolepla...

Whoa, really? Oooh, wait, these, yah: http://shadowrun.wikia.com/wiki/Metahumanity
Hm, I would do many of those differently, but there are some interesting ideas there.

Re: Grimoires, Other People's Grimoires, & You
I agree that in-game "political" reasons for spell-control would limit availability sharply. This is an interesting discussion, and this gets to the heart of it: Anyways, with this change/interpretation, spells "learned" (i.e., spent LP on them, actually in grimoire) really becom...

Re: Were Brithans and Shadowmants weaker before?
I like the idea of juvenile vs adult Brithans and Shadowmants.
Both animals could have different social structures in the different phases of life. Often juvinile rays will school, but adults only school in large numbers at certain times of the year.
