Re: Sticky combat vs Mounted combat

On the other side of that coin, adding sticky means the fighters can actually protect their magician allies. As it stands now, an enemy can just run around the Warrior that just hit them, and stab the Magician in the face, so long as they're within range. Adding Response was my take on defending Ma...

Re: Sticky combat vs Mounted combat

Ugh ... different strokes for different folks, but I would fight tooth and nail against adding an Attack of Opportunity to Earthdawn ... Climbing onto my soap box here a bit: I continually find that people seem to focus pretty tightly on the 'realism' of close and ranged combat. ED isn't a combat si...

Re: Improving in Multiple Disciplines?

One useful simplification is "Adept cannot pick up an extra Discipline unless their lowest Discipline is Circle 5 or above." While the game ALLOWS is before then, this simplification cuts out some of the confusion of the scaling LP cost for the first rank in each of the new Discipline Tale...

Re: What future supplement releases would you like to see?

Each [magician Discipline has] variations of the same basic spell with background flavor. I'd have to disagree here. Yes, there are multiple overlapping effects, but in almost all cases, there is far more than "flavor" difference. Your example about the DD spells is one example. Honestly,...

Re: Weaving Threads to Pattern Items

Item History is a pretty weird talent to me that would serve as nothing more than a barrier to entry on magic items if it weren't for the "also reveals facts about non-magical items" aspect. For nearly all purposes, it's either just a money sink that requires you to sit in town for a while...

Re: Disbelieving Illusions

As people are describing here, I think this is a case of Emergent Knowledge that characters can develop. - Until a character becomes familiar with the idea that some damaging spells can be illusions, they cannot disbelieve them. A generous or adventurous GM might have players roll a disbelieve roll,...

Re: Weaving Threads to Pattern Items

I think this might be better left as part of an "Errata & Additional Information" free PDF. The whole Key Knowledge thing is a little cumbersome, and a single, well-written paragraph can probably clear it up. I am not great at being concise (can anyone tell??), but I'll take a stab at ...

Re: Weaving Threads to Pattern Items

Ah, sorry. Item History is the only way to reveal the Test Knowledge. Luckily, this is a service that is easy to buy in most cities and large towns.
