Re: death and death conditions + last chance

So, if exist only 1 named chance, when you use it, is over ? and if you "die" again, you can use another one again ? i mean, it's unique because you can have only 1 in ALL your life or 1 at each time ? No, in my Barsaive, you get one Last Chance each time you might die. Well, this is how ...

Re: death and death conditions + last chance

The way that I run it is as follows: If you are killed, you can still bleed out, but any poisons won't effect you anymore, as they rely on biological functions to do their damage (magical poisons may still cause damage to your corpse, on a case by case basis). You can still be hacked to bits, dealin...

Re: Resource for Gamemasters

"If it has stats you can kill it" ;) But what if my players decide to assassinate a major noble lord, and replace him with a Psychic using Soma to perfectly imitate his features? I need to know his stats and the number of guards he generally keeps around (and their stats) so that I know h...

Re: Resource for Gamemasters

Information on and stats for various major NPCs (major Nobles, Guild, and Church officials, for instance), stats for various generic NPCs (such as your average Hawkwood soldier), stats and info on a variety of creatures (monsters, native animal life, etc), items and other goodies that might not be r...

Re: The Guardian of the Library

I wouldn't do something the scribes know how to avoid. I think a better option would be a tasked spirit that is bound to the archives, and essentially quizzes trespassers. The scholars can answer its questions, which allows them to pass unhindered. If a question is answered incorrectly, then somethi...

Re: Spell Balance

Also, for spell balance between the Disciplines, you have to keep in mind that the Magician Disciplines are not intended to be primary damage dealers. They are versatile support characters who have enough "oomph" in a fight to defend themselves. The fact that the Elementalist, at first Cir...

Re: horror mark question

Wow, thx guys for the feedback, very useful! I especially like the ideas of Telarus and ManDrake. ManDrake, I think you are right that the Gharmek lacks motivation for leaving its cozy lair. It wouldn't flee a few second circle adepts. But I was thinking that it may think its hiding place has been ...

Re: Quotes from sessions

Player of the (then) 5th Circle Troll Cavalryman: "How much falling damage could I possibly take? I have a high Death Rating anyway." The fall knocked him out. From the game I run set in Vasgothia, where the players are actually playing Theran peacekeeping agents: Cavalryman: "That's ...

Re: Obsidianman Armor

Though Namegivers of Barsaive does expand on that, by stating that it isn't any sort of physical limitation, but rather a social/cultural limitation. It's not that an Obsidiman CAN'T wear full plate, it's just that most of them WON'T, as it makes them feel "cut off" from the natural world....
