Re: Mass Combat
Example A group of rebels led by the player characters is attacking an oppressive Hawkwood noble on Gwynneth. Baron Johann Larken Hawkwood calls up his militia, summons his household troops and knights to crush the rebels, and cranks up the two tanks he won in the high stakes poker game after the re...

Re: Mass Combat
Rules Before the battle begins, the gamemaster should choose the tactics favored by the enemy commander. If you aren't sure what tactics to use, you may roll randomly. Ideally, choose three tactics, for the beginning, middle, and end of the battle, to prepare for the Fog of War rule (see below). Com...

Re: Mass Combat
Fading Suns Mass Combat Rules The Emperor Wars may be over, but peace is a relative term. Wars rage on Hira and Stigmata. Rebellions and uprisings rage across Gwynneth, Rampart, Malignatius, and Cadavus. Aliens raid outposts on Severus and Kordeth, and barbarians raid the border worlds. At any given...

Re: Fallout
Ah yes, great memories. My players had some Rolemaster experience, they came up against wolves in the 1st Edition game I ran, and expected it to be an easy fight. It wasn't so bad. They outnumbered the wolves to start, so no one died. No one had any karma left at the end except the characters who ha...

Re: How long are...
Agreed, high tech, law, and finance have lengthier apprenticeships than other fields. I have been a lawyer for 15 years, and I recently noticed that my trial prep times are no longer getting shorter. I have reached an optimal point in my abilities after a mere 15 years. The priesthood is also an old...

Re: "Cold War" campaign idea
Also, you would be one jump from Sutek, where the League is smuggling to Pandora because of its tech base, and the Imperial Eye is trying to catch them violating the imperial law that reserves lost world exploration for questing knights and people operating with an Imperial writ. Remember, House Haz...

Re: Mass Combat
Should I post my notes as a PDF link or break it into chunks to post? I don't want to spam the board, but I'm not sure which approach is better. Mind you, I'm not totally satisfied with my work, but it has held up in two battles, so it is good enough for other people to pick it apart and suggest imp...

Re: How long are...
Yeah, it depends on the career. A tour of duty as a priest is most likely going to be long. But for Brothers Battle, it is short. Academy Training means college, in my opinion. So four years college, and possibly a tour of duty as a grad student. Guilders will tend to be younger than priests because...

Look at the write up for the Vera Cruz system in the Imperial Survey, and the Sargasso system in Lost Worlds. Vera Cruz is what you want. The Vuldrok have found that it is a back door to the known worlds, the Kurgans raid through that gate all the time, and there are pirates hiding in the asteroid b...

Re: And he brooded from the parapet of his waste treatment p
I like to describe Second Republic buildings very factually, and then watch the players try to figure out what the building used to be before it got repurposed.
