Re: Pre-art draft feedback

Great Leap as skill is overpowered. It shouldn't be available as skill, don't you think? It's impossible for normal people to perform such action. It's a sacrifice I'm willing to make for rule consistency, even if "realism" suffers a little. The Obsidiman Warrior in my group has the Great...

Re: Pre-art draft feedback

-snipped for length- For my part, I appreciate your going into detail into the thought process that went into the changes. It still doesn't quite sit right with me that Versatility is now more expensive, especially given that I am playing a human Swordmistress, but I do find your reasoning compelli...

Re: Pre-art draft feedback

Yes, it was necessary. As it stands, Versatility is still the most powerful racial ability in the game. It is effectively the equivalent to +1 to strength and low-light vision. As it stood, it was cheaper to improve a talent through Versatility than a second discipline. Now it costs the same and do...

Re: Weapons size damage bonus

Weapon size is already taken into account by the fact that large weapons do more damage. But suppose we experiment with your idea and decide that the base damage for swords is Step 2. In that case a Size 2 short sword have Step 4 damage, while a Size 3 broadsword have Step 5 damage, and a Size 6 two...

Re: Developer's Blog -- A pair of new spell mechanics

See, my interpretation of the rules there is to just say that if you fail to disbelieve illusionary damage when it hits, it becomes real damage, and that's the end of it. You're seeing a contradiction in the rules saying that if a disbelief attempt fails you can try again the next round, and the rul...

Re: Versatility and spell casting

I suppose, but I don't consider advancement planning a fun part of the game. It's already the case that certain choices are more or less efficient than others. This is inevitable when you have a lot of options, because it is nearly impossible to have all their benefits and trade-offs perfectly balan...

Re: Versatility and spell casting

I'll admit I'm not a fan of the "Legend Points are lost forever" part of... pretty much anything, actually. It requires you to be very careful in how you plan your character ahead of time, which I find to be more of a chore than any actual fun. I generally prefer to treat LP as something p...

There's barding on Page 143 of the Cathay Player's guide, but to the best my knowledge not elsewhere.

Re: GM's Guide -- Anything you would like to see?

I passed this question along to my gamemaster, this is what he had to say: "I would like expanded rules on making monsters and magic items. Maybe some discussion on Horror cults. Maybe some way of dealing with insanity. I mean Earthdawn is suppose to be a Horror Fantasy game but there are no me...

Re: A new Developer's Blog? Why yes!

" That incentive being having a better chance of going 'first', hoping to get that armor defeating hit, leading to the other being knockdown." Hoping: to feel that something desired may happen Nearly everyone playing this game pre4e was/is hoping for an ADH. No where have I said that goin...
