Re: How should peoples interact with a Noble?

The workers and your PC should know that if this is brought to any kind of official attention, his word will count more than theirs. They won't start a bar fight with him if they have any kind of common sense. Fun thing with ranks. An IRL wet navy captain is at the same level as a land army colonel....

Re: How should peoples interact with a Noble?

The captain of the craft will be a noble. The usual noble courtesy applies. The captain in this situation is under the authority of his lord as a part of his feudal duty (patrol, pirate control or whatnot) and will be expected to perform that duty foremost. If we go with my model, a mere baron won't...

Re: Campaign idea

It would be interesting to have some light boardgame rules to represent the affairs of a fief on regional, continental or planetary level. Game of Thrones is a neat boardgame, but a bit too complex to be weaved into a campaign.

Re: Campaign idea

I believe that scope could work well. Fading Suns systems have the kind of depth to allow campaigns set entirely inside those confines. A campaign where the players are some sort of local power is always neat in any kind of setting or PC background. What kind of local power players would the players...

Re: FS 2nd and experiences points

Safe if the peasants could tell it apart from psionics or high science. Which in most cases they can't. :p Having one PC turn out as a combat monster can happen in any game. It's not a contest, let him shine against thugs now and then. How interested are the other players in combat scenes? Is he ste...

Re: FS 2nd and experiences points

I didn't like how occult powers used the inflexible power escalation staircase design from WoD Disciplines and such. Getting a wider amount of abilities would be nice.

Re: Space Flight

I tells you, some player group out there will construct the 20-G kinetic planetbuster missile and point it at Byzantium II! Communications lag is one of the primary mechanics I like to use to enable feudalism. If your prince is two weeks courier travel away it has far less implications than half a y...

Re: Space Flight

Space is quite empty. A "debris cloud" in astronomical scale means a few grains here and there that you often have to manouver against on purpouse to spot. I'm going to stick with months-long space trips. Space travel is supposed to be a hard, lengthy ordeal. Speeding up travel time is usu...

Re: Technology in the Known Worlds

The worst of science for the Church seems to be when it alters or questions essential human nature.
