Re: ED4 Preview #3
My bad I didn't realize we could only voice concern once after that we just need to accept. Voicing concern about the changes in order to have a conversation about the logic behind them is one thing; rejecting the very idea of change and accusing anyone that disagrees with you of not knowing how to...

Re: Kickstarter!
I share a lot of these concerns about the stretch goals. I just hope that they don't wind up having to take on too much to meet all the stuff they're promising. I wish I could be more excited about the Travar book, but I've been running an ED game based out of Travar for the last few years and the r...

Re: Kickstarter!
I know I keep making comparisons to Shadowrun, but that game's release history is a good model. First and second editions are nearly identical, with second edition being more akin to a 1.5 edition than a truly "new" edition. Third edition, however, featured a lot of mechanical tweaks and t...

Re: Kickstarter!
As someone else said on rpg.net: I don't care the size (at least not really), just what's between the covers. I like the idea of fiction on one side then mechanics to support it akin to what Etheriel said. I have to say I don't get what people are complaining about across the mediums about not want...

Re: Kickstarter!
FWIW, I don't have a true problem with digest size, but I don't think it is the right format for Earthdawn, at least not for the core books. The reason for this is very simple; stories. One of the things that sets Earthdawn apart is the inclusion of in-character stories and fluff along with the rul...

Re: ED4 Preview #3
At least in my experience, Durability was something you HAD to spend points on if you didn't want to die. I've never had a player that didn't take at least a few ranks of Durability. The spirit of the change seems to be that they want to let players spend the Legend Points that would have gone into...

Re: Kickstarter!
I really don't see why the digest thing is such a deal breaker for people. Digest size seems to be gaining steam as a new standard for second tier rpg publications. FATE, Savage Worlds, Burning Wheel, Legend, and Colonial Gothic are some of the major examples I can think of off the top of my head an...

Re: ED4 Preview #3
The spirit of the change seems to be that they want to let players spend the Legend Points that would have gone into Durability on other, active Talents. I agree that that is the goal of the change. But the cost of the change is to prevent players from choosing to spend more if they wish. FASA coul...

Re: Kickstarter!
I am very happy to hear the ED4 is now a go. I had even contemplated tossing monies for the kick starter, but then I saw this... As of right now, the plan is the for the books to be digest-sized (about 9" x 6"). Black & white interior, color cover. This makes me sad. I spent time writ...

Re: ED4 Preview #3
My opinion on this is, it is a great change. Durability was always the first thing I would buy, as high as I could buy it. (my GM at the time, maxed ranks at Circle +3); it was no brainer. This sounds more like a "no" vote to me. Not to put words in his mouth, I think his point is that sp...
