On page 357 in description of the Loan Spell spell.
"If the target does not know the Spellcasting talent or skill, he makes a Perception test in place of a Spellcasting test."
Pretty sure this is a legacy from ED1 since there's no more Spellcasting skill in further editions.

Technically, there is absolutly nothing in any 3e books that talks about spellfetish objects. But as Mataxes says, it is quite unfair. In my group, Familiar are always popular with spellcasters and beastmasters. Spellcasters always enjoy an easy extra matrix. And it help the beastmaster keep their beast more useful in combat. But has Mataxes says, in forth edition, it is no longer necessary for beastmasters. Though I'm very curious...

Someone with greater knowledge/skill or ability is needed to train someone else. Two people could not train each other and keep increasing their abilities. One could help the other get to his/her level and the two would be equal. They would need to find someone else to train them further. IMO This ...
