Re: number of daily karma points
The stat mods isn't the whole picture. What those stats represent game mechanic-wise tells a much larger story than just a +6, +3, 0, -3. It is brutally obvious if you use the point buy method. The big issue with the 'purchase pool' is the racial modifiers. It's lovely that characters all have the s...

Re: number of daily karma points
I'm not going to tell players what they should base the selection of race on. If they want to play a Windling because they like the art. Sure. If they want to play a Windling because they can fly. Sure. If they want to play a Windling because they are pranksters. Sure. If they want to play a Windlin...

Re: number of daily karma points
The strategic element isn't gone, we just need to relearn how as GMs to use it again. As above it is pretty easy to set up your session with breaks when you are traveling but harder once the fighting starts. In the end of the terror in the skies there is a kaer crawl followed by a 2 day cat and mou...

Re: number of daily karma points
I dont find it ridiculous if players run out of karma halfway thru a kaer. In fact, just the opposite: I find it more realistic, as it is a simulation, a modell for tiring. Just like in alien 2, when they are running out of ammo. It always adds to our game, like the growing number of wounds during ...

Re: number of daily karma points
I think it's been fine.... If you are only having 15 checks a games you have a different issue anyways. If you don't want the players to have 30 karma a day sprinkle in some random encounters or make it difficult for them to do a 30 karma ritual. It it ridiculous to go halfway through a Kaer and st...

Re: number of daily karma points
let me ask you, how much was that fixed maximum karma number in ed1-2, 20-25? (Just like in ed3 fourth circle?) and the daily karma gained was also "karma ritual rank", right? If thats the case, I don't see ed3 as (significantly) restrictive. I certainly find much more (uncomparably more)...

Re: number of daily karma points
You are getting that impression because ED3 was more restrictive on Karma than any other edition. You would be seeing less of a difference if you were jumping from ED1 or ED2 where Karma maximum was set at character creation. It's going to be a huge adjustment for me to deal with the idea that my F...

Re: Weaponsmith & Conversation
The Weaponsmith as community adviser and the forge as his forum has been case since first edition. The entire Discipline has a reputation for being stalwart and honest to a fault, and they have a tendency to stick to one location, which makes them excellent mediators and anchors for the community. ...

Re: Weaponsmith & Conversation
Evidently I am missing the point here. Gregarious(aka social, friendly, outgoing, convivial) adept isn't required, to hold his own in social conversations, using quips, clever timing, and other verbal tricks to make a favorable impression because a dour (aka sullen, gloomy, morose, obstinate) adept ...
