Re: Combat Movement

As an EarthDawn GM I don’t use miniatures very often. I do use them on the rare occasion that I feel warrants it however, say at the end of a long campaign were rather than some powerful individual there is to be a large battle, and tactics, not just the player characters' abilities, may determine t...

Re: Quick question on prop coins

Our group used polished glass beads as gems for currency in our EarthDawn game, i think it fell by the wayside after the first gaming session. While its a nice touch it just got sidelined by putting your wealth on the character sheet.

Re: The Guardian of the Library

Some good ideas there to get my brain kickstarted. I think a spirit is the way forward and i like the idea of some kind of connection to previous librarians.

The Guardian of the Library

In the latest adventure I’m putting together for my players their characters must travel to Throal to the Great Library. I’ve decided the Great Library is much larger than it appears to be in Nations of Barsaive I - Throal and has a large vault running under it for storing books it has multiple copi...

Re: Making Adventures

Most of the adventures I GM are homebrew and I tend to keep the published ones for when the gaming catches up with the writing or as a side show when a regular player may be absent from a few sessions. I guess if I were to break them down there would be some kind of structure, but that’s not how I w...

Re: Momentum attack

I guess it come down to what you consider a parry. A really good parry utilises a weapon and body movement to redirect the arc/direction of the incommng blow enough that a commited attacker loses thier balance. Then there is what i consider a block, simply stopping the incomming attack by meeting fo...

Re: Co-Operative Actions Mark 2

From memory the ship in question is the Crimson Dawn. The Obsidian Flyer is one of Juliak Merris' other ships, and there is as far as i can remember a paragraph or two on how the cooperative actions of the player characters can reduce the time to dig a fire break to stop the fire spreading to the re...

Re: Co-Operative Actions

Until reading this topic I didn't realise cooperative rules were missing (just assumed I wasn’t needing them). As a GM I just call it how I see it there and then, sometimes by reducing difficulty numbers (perhaps even increasing them) or depending on the task at hand reducing the time taken. As prev...

Re: windlings. why them ?

The poor have a big problem in this hypothetical crime wave; they can’t afford the basic anti–windling counter measures! I mean, these hypothetical scenarios are all well and good, but why would the poor worry about a windling crime wave? They would only be hypothetically worried  But all ...

Re: windlings. why them ?

So let us imagine we have a windling crime wave. What could we do to stop it? First it likely depends if you are rich or poor. The poor have a big problem in this hypothetical crime wave; they can’t afford the basic anti–windling counter measures! Would the poor set traps? Unlikely, their children a...
