Re: Eleventh Hour Preview: Wizard

Matrices are not Talents but rather advanced magical constructs and if you want more of them than the average mage there should be a real cost. Making them knacks isn't a real choice because eventually everyone will take them if they get access to them. I agree with pretty much everything you said,...

Re: RPG.NET Q&A Archive

FASA has said that, at its core, 1879 RPG will be using the step system. So I suppose you could run the two systems in parallel to each other. However, I get the feeling that, with the lack of true 'magic' amongst the British, there will need to be different rules for things like 'talents', 'spells'...

Re: Questions about Travar, Elven Nations, Questors, & Metap

As a side note: I really like where this thread is going. Having Flows and Penagain both telling us about what they wrote and what we can expect to see is awesomely transparent. I really want to see these books!

Re: Eleventh Hour Preview: Wizard

I agree with a lot of what has already been said. Both by Josh and by Utsukushi. I think that the Spell Matrix talent was a required option, and upping it doesn't really make for an 'interesting' use of legend points. Turning matrices into a class feature makes a lot of sense based on these Edition ...

Re: Earthdawn: Fourth Edition coming in 2014

The plan is to have the books at GenCon, which is August, so end of summer really. It looks a lot more tight when you don't know what all is going on behind the scenes. Now when you say 'the books' is the plan to have EVERY book available by Gen Con? I would be very surprised to see you guys get th...

Re: Preview #5 - Spells

You forget that Earthdawn is a system based on yards, then you see that a spell goes 30 hexes then you as a gm go 'well, we aren't on a mat, how far is that? Uhhhhh.....' One hex is six feet. It's a Theran unit of measurement. Haha, is that true? If so I missed it in the fluff...in any case. I stil...

Re: Preview #5 - Spells

I never liked giving measures in yards (hexes). It should be one measure given. Is it realy that hard to divide yards to get hexes? Heck I am from Poland and we use metric system, and I don't have a problem with calculating inches, feets, yards to meters and pounds to kilograms. You could save spac...

Re: Most Extensive and Crazy Houserules

With ED4 doing away with other defensive talents in favor of Avoid Blow, I think your rule sounds like a pretty good tweak. If not to the base talent, I could see it becoming a pretty good knack. 'Grazing Blow', spend some extra strain, use the avoid blow roll instead of physical defense for a singl...
