Peasants?

I got in a discussion about power disparity in Fading Suns with another player over the holiday weekend it occurred to me that the games my group runs might be disproportionately focused on the peasantry of the Fading Suns universe. Generally in our games themes of power-imbalance, Xenophobia and Su...

Re: Burnin Down the House

Better yet a debt to the Reeves guild could open the door for an adventure for the Players to pay off their debt by collecting a larger debt that the Reeve's don't have the resources to accomplish.

Re: Burnin Down the House

They didn't even look at the rental agreement before signing. Not foolish players but excellent Noble Roleplay. The renter doesn't have assets much in the way of assets but his family owns land in the valley. Do you think the Courts could place a lien against his family for damage to the house? I ha...

Burnin Down the House

As many times in the past our players have rented a house in the city they are working in. In this game there's a strong likelihood that they are going to be attacked in that home by people with explosives or flame guns. If, or more likely, when this fight comes to their door it's going to do a lot ...

Re: FATE In The Fading Suns?

There's a Fading Suns Fate Core that turns up regularly when I web search Fading Suns. I looked it over and it looks fairly accurate given my weak understanding of Fate. The problem I found is that it doesn't address the thematic components of the game world reflected in the rules. You will get abil...

Re: Think machine mapper

The limits are small. There is a pattern in Fading Suns of Think Mahcines having very 1990's storage ability, which is fine given that much of the Known World's think machines are badly maintained or rebuilt from lower tech. I would say that a Mapper is built to be able to record a few day's of trav...

Re: Pre-gen characters?

Also, in a game at a convention or for new players, making your own characters allows you to tailor the background to be very specific about their role in the game and spell out their perception of the other characters.

Re: Pre-gen characters?

I'd suggest against stock characters. They can often be unweidly, especially in a one-shot and worse they can create unexpected complications if you don't think them through the way a player might. If I were running a one shot I would start with an element that attaches each character to the story a...

Re: One-shot dramas?

Fading Suns can be very hard to get a grip on if you haven't read the books. You might think about a high-concept adventure like a Murder mystery or a quest for the thing, so that if players are unsure how the world works at least their familiar with how the story should play through. Steer away fro...
