Re: Eleventh Hour Preview: Wizard
Is the general feeling then that granting a second free Standard Matrix at Third Circle isn't sufficient? Do people think it would be better to give the two free matrices up front, rather than making the caster wait? Well... no. I don't think that is. If I step back a little from what I think and l...

Re: Renaming Direction Sense
Um, yeah... I got it off your list. I thought it was interesting that it was one of the only ones you didn't have a follow-up comment for. "Reveal Quarry" sounds like it shows a picture of them - like a scrying pool or crystal ball. Point The Way actually isn't bad, but it sounds more like...

Re: Eleventh Hour Preview: Wizard
Goodness. This is all going a bit.. dramatic. That I've noticed, the Devs haven't actually commented on this question at all. I'm hoping that they're sitting back, reading, and maybe mulling some of this over. (And hopefully not just thinking, "See? Earthdawn fans. Rabid. Quick, lock the doors....

Re: Renaming Direction Sense
Wow... that's quite a set of posts, Rags! I laughed, I cried... I learned about belomancy. (The science part of technomancy comes from the `techno' side.) You seem to have this well in hand, actually, arguing from like six sides at once, so I'm not at all convinced you need the rest of us jumping in...

Re: Eleventh Hour Preview: Wizard
Spells that have a direct, immediate effect can be - if you know you're going to need them - as fast as a Talent, assuming they don't have Threads. Mind Dagger, say, you can spit out in a round. But, again - a regular, non-Mind dagger works the same way. A dagger has to be bought and kept somewhere;...

Re: Questions about Travar, Elven Nations, Questors, & Metap
I know how passionate Earthdawn fans are about the game world, and that can be a scary thing. Rar. ...Er, by which I mean, Oh, no, don't worry about us! We don't even know where you live. You're probably nearly perfectly safe. But more seriously, what you guys have said so far has sounded awesome; ...

Re: Eleventh Hour Preview: Wizard
You're right, a lot of this is a diversion -- though I would be very curious if Versatility is changing at all. The particular question of it as it applies to magicians has always been a tricky topic; I think 3rd Edition has made the best run at it so far, but it still feels a bit wobbly. But on the...

Re: Eleventh Hour Preview: Wizard
Shiinx's idea is brilliant. One open-use Matrix under Spellcasting, and a Discipline-specific one under Threadweaving. It strikes a lovely balance between devoted spellcasters and Humans using Versatility. With that combination, I'd suggest that the `free' ones that come with Circles should be open,...

Re: Eleventh Hour Preview: Wizard
In a lot of ways, a Spell Matrix isn't ever a `bonus' - they're a limited reprieve from a restriction. Magicians have to force their spells through a funnel that only lets them keep a handful of their spells available at any given moment. They don't add anything to your casting or your effect or.. a...
