Also, if you find yourself without Karma Points, you can use Recovery Tests to power talents. "If an adept has no Karma Points he may use a Recovery Test to generate the magical energy required."

Check out p.276 in the ED3 Player's Guide (Melee Weapons template). Thread weapons are fully forged at Thread Rank One. The information on templates, etc., for thread items is not in the EDR Player's Guide, which is why you're missing some context.

That's a carryover from ED3 (and ED1/EDC before it).

As with Best Face, probably should be an illusion, with Interaction Tests against the target acting as a Sensing Test.
