Re: The Quest for the lost Item of Sir/Saint Macguffin
The Hazat fiefs book recounted the tale of one such relic. While I haven't been in a similar situation myself in Fading Suns, I can suggest other things which might be of interest: -Formula/schematics for a bit of lost technology. -A personal effect belonging to Vladimir Alecto, the Prophet or any o...

This got me to thinking what could Muster soldiers have to differentiate themselves from regular goons with guns. Now, the ca...

Come now, you don't necessarily have to go back more than a thousand or so years of history

Re: Lethality and getting started
My group uses the lethal variant where gun VPs do automatic damage. Shields really make characters pretty durable when combined with the appropriate armor.

Re: Combat Effects
I prefer the passive defense as it makes for fewer rolls and fewer calculations. Besides, in previous editions you could only dodge 1 attack. Defense in this edition applies to multiple attacks (albeit with diminishing returns).

Re: Noble Hospitality
There's a section in the revised player's guide about noble hospitality. But essentially, it boils down to you have to be a good host but the visiting noble must also act following a certain decorum.

Re: Security Questions
Another option to consider is part of the starport facilities/customs are "outsourced" to a guild, whether it is the League or a local guild.

Re: Using Iver
Maybe it's the liberal/progressive in me, but I actually think Iver does give something the rest of the setting lacks: a more compelling reason for characters/players to consider every being they might encounter. In the rest of the setting, it's very easy to dismiss serfs for being a faceless mass o...
