Re: Mass Combat
I remember having worked on some L5R-based mass combat system for FS3, WAY back in the day, but I don't think it got anywhere near finished so what you have seen ws probably someone elses effort. It did seem like a good mach back in the day, though. The plan is to publish a skermish system at some p...

Re: Amaltheans & Cybernetics
Oh, a doctrine I cannot remember. Where is the SEF doctrine from? Generally speaking, the benefits of Tech use vs. the dangers of corruption is a major point of content in the Universal Church. I often have the feeling that the individual sects, including the Urth Orthodoxy (which for all intents an...

Re: Appointment of Confessors
IMHO... All priests receive a mission upon ordination, and many are appointed as the personal confessors of nobles or other VIPs, or more correctly to a household of such. So, there isn't a confessor for every knight, but many kinghtly households will have one; in practice, these tend to be a bastar...

Re: Age of consent/legal marriage in the Known Worlds
Interesting fun fact; in mid-to-late 19th century Norway, the average marrying age for women were 28 years old. I cannot varrify this or explain the reason, it is just one of the fun facts I remember from uni. history courses 15-18 years ago. The lesson to be learnt though is that all bets are off; ...

Re: Age of consent/legal marriage in the Known Worlds
I don't think this has ever been officially addressed, but I would say that individual faction cultures decide this. (In the truncated FS3, we had a culture skill - which covered languages, social normes and rules, and other such facets - for each faction. Fun times!). Usually, I would think that mo...

Re: Growing old with Antigathics
I discuss this in the Tech chapter in the FSR PG. AT TL6, life expectancy is in the late 90s, while those with access to Lypee55 or similar have their life-exp. as much as double. At TL7, life-exp. is 100 or more, while the privileged sustain themselves for centuries with longevity serums. At TL8, “...

Re: How to introduce the FS universe to newbies
I focus on the politics and a VERY brief overview of the history (since history is what ties FS to our own world), as well as whatever I need to explain for story reasons. The rest I leave very vague ("there are also space vikings and space ottomans about") or just leave out entierly.

Re: The Noble percentage
I usually have one or two nobles in a 4-5 person cadre, typically a main-man dude with at most a noble retainer cousin or similar + a priest and other dudes. Aliens and serfs/freemen are at least as popular as nobles in my groups, I think.
