Re: Fourth Edition House Rules

Shields don't add Armor any longer, they add Defense. You would need to rethink your house rules in that context.

Re: River boat sailor, own discipline or air sailor?

The racials will not be in the Companion. Over on his blog Morgan addressed some of the racial/non-core Disciplines, and even did more complete builds for some of them (not official, but they will no doubt influence the official versions when/if we get around to releasing them). His recommendation f...

Re: Windling flight while in combat (4th edition)

I suppose my real issue boils down to the ruling on if a already hovering Windling or other flying creature performs a standard action (such as an attack) while hovering, and continuing to hover after the attack; Are they performing a Move--->Attack or a Move--->Attack--->Move? My opinion is that t...

Re: Blood oaths and depatterning

Any hint on if blood charms such as fire wings or crystal limbs may be included in the Companion or other future products ...probably not? The book only has so much space. There are things that must be in there (higher Circle Disciplines, talents, knacks, etc), and things that could be in there. Th...

Re: Blood oaths and depatterning

As of right now, there aren't any plans to include depatterning in the Companion. While I think there is a good idea there, and a place in the game to reflect the dangers of blood magic, I've never been fond of the mechanics associated with depatterning. Something like that may appear in the future,...

Re: Windling flight while in combat (4th edition)

...yeah. Even if it isn't explicit, constantly applying the "splitting movement" penalty to a windling because of their flight is against the intent of those rules. The very nature of rules require that things be broken up into discrete steps and pieces, even if the narrative reality is a ...

I've asked the guy organizing the LoB games to pop in and address this for you. I don't know offhand what the plan is.

Re: Named Spells in ED4?

You haven't missed them.

They may show up later. The last couple of weeks have been kind of rough and I don't recall offhand whether they are in the current build of the Enchanting chapter for the Companion.

Re: [Ed4] Spells and successes achieved

Yeah, but the point with those (and most damaging spells with an extended duration) is that the increased damage would be intentional as a result of extra threads, and not the result of exploding dice. While the 'net effect' kind of works out the same, there is a built-in limit to the former (from t...

Re: [Ed4] Spells and successes achieved

Out of curiosity (since right now I can't be arsed to check)... how many of those kinds of spells are there?

From a design standpoint, most damaging spells with an extended duration shouldn't give bonus damage on successes.
