Re: Temperature and Air
In my opinion, the Fire Engines are steam-powered (Upandal's gift to the river-locked T'skrang, the very river + Fire becomes their source of locomotion). I had a guess that this is what Varulus III and the Prophet Shivalahala Syrtis fought about "in strictest confidence" (but there were o...

Re: Obsidimen Racial Memory
My thinking follows similar lines, but I consider the Obsidimen living near the Liferock to have access to these "Akashic Records" like memories. Any memories (dreams, or even waking day-dreams while doing a similar activity) would not be remembers in first person tho ...i.e., it would not...

Re: Spellstore question
Ok, my answers are based on the 3rd Ed texts. 1, a) The same as a Matrix Object ('Using Spell Matrix Objects' in the Spell Magic chapter, p. 135). If Threads are required, weave threads with required Threadweaving Type, cast via Spellcasting. If contact or proximity is removed while threadweaving, e...

Re: some combat questions
Reading through this thread, I realize that Stealth in ED is very much about who-knows-about-who first. That's where I would focus. Sure, the Theif preps by rolling Silent Walk before going into the place. But if somebody is in there he didn't expect & doesn't see at first, he could very well be...

Re: some combat questions
When you are not in a person's line-of-sight, sound is the thing that will give you away. I think this is a fine model, as there are powers like Camouflage, and other effects that model the various 'hiding' techniques.

Re: Severing threads
That's the point I keep seeing come back -- that somehow you can prevent pattern items from forming to protect yourself. How? Player Characters in Earthdawn are adepts, using magic and going around doing magical stuff. Pattern items are an occupational hazard, a natural consequence of adepts doing ...
