Re: water, air interface
ChrisD, You do you, man. The only other thing I can point out that may help is the irony that you're defining individual words in some of the rules text and hammering minutia in various lines while at the same time blowing the universe wide open on other things. You're likely going to confuse or exa...

Re: water, air interface
I'm fond of two phrases when it comes to ED. One is "it's magic; let it be magic." The other is "ED is not a simulator" (in the sense that 'simulator' games try to be realistic). If you're looking for a game with a bunch of simulation modifiers, ED (from the system perspective) i...

Re: Heat Armor
The spell is very situational anyways, Any elementalist would have fireball or lightning in their matrix as their main combat spell(enhanced matrix) and grove renewal in their other enhanced. Never a good idea to make sweeping statements like that. ;) Fireball requires an enhancement matrix just to...

Re: water, air interface
The keywords are meant to interact with other things based on that keyword. For example, "Resist Element - Fire" provides additional armor against spells (and other effects) that use the keyword Fire. Similarly, if you had something that said "When successfully cast, Fire spells achie...

Re: water, air interface
Short answer: it's magic, don't over complicate it. Long answer: Are you prepared to increase defense or lower attack steps when people swing weapons in windy conditions? Are you prepared to increase defense or lower attack step when attacking upward (opponent has high ground)? Are you prepared to i...

Re: Stealthy Stride & Attacks
The Stealthy Stride talent is illusion. The skill equivalent is just trained at hiding. Skill Use: The non-magical version of this talent does not include the magical effects, but otherwise works the same way as the talent. As for "Dex as base difficulty," that's different then a character...

Re: Stealthy Stride & Attacks
Seems like someone with Stealthy Stride should have an easier time of hiding that someone who doesn't have it? Could they just use Stealthy Stride after their attack to re-hide (with modifiers, of course)? It's a simple action. As opposed to someone without Stealthy Stride who'd have to use their m...

Re: Sticky combat vs Mounted combat
Agreed. The first big issue we ran into when we started mapping ED was the changing facing issue. Two people face to face in a duel. PC: I run around to his Blindside and attack. NPC: I do the same in return. 1 round of that, and it was immediately house ruled. :) That was the exact reason our grou...

Re: Sticky combat vs Mounted combat
At the end of the day, every group will gravitate towards house rules that they feel best fit their desires in gameplay. This may lead to balance issues, but who cares, ultimate goal is for group to have fun. That said, remember that a 'round' in RAW ED involves everyone notionally moving at once. I...

Re: [Ed4] Stealthy Stride talent
I'm all for hidden dice rolls. Dice are a mechanical element meant to quantify things in the game universe. However, rolls slow things down, and in the real world, we as people (and characters as entities) would not know the difference between a result of 11 and a result of 13. Especially for things...
