Re: Ranged combat fighting styles
I'm all about finding new and interesting ways for players to spend their experience and firebirds.

Re: Criticorum Discord NOW!
Just got my dead tree copy in the mail! Looks good, looks very good. I will post in the Gamemaster section when I use these adventures. I particularly like the setting material, my current campaign is based just outside Acheon, I look forward to using this sourcebook, probably in every session.

Re: Mass Combat
I am trying to avoid a metagame, because the more I think about it, the more I agree with the idea of avoiding it. As the GM, I usually know who 'should' win or lose a battle. I am trying to come up with a framework of determining what happens, and letting the players deal with it. The problem I hav...

Re: Mass Combat
I'm working on something now, I'll probably be asking for some help. Then once I get it done I'll definitely share. So let me ask for help with Military Tactics rolls. I am going with the idea that VPs on a Warfare roll gives you more accurate information, and that it should be an opposed roll, so i...

Re: Muster ranged combat style
Wow, we play them different. I've always treated Muster as professional soldiers, using real world examples like the mercenaries the Rhodesians used, or the consultants the US used in Iraq, and I've always played house troops as more like the garrison troops of the Napoleonic wars. House troops are ...

Re: Mass Combat
Yeah, I think that is more what I need to come up with. The more I thought about it yesterday and today, the more I want to avoid creating a metagame of mass combat. I think a simple chart of bonuses and penalties, and maybe a framework of possible scenes that I can random roll in case something com...

Re: Mass Combat
Yeah, looking at what I found from years ago, I am leaning towards crafting two or three encounters for a battle, then giving bonuses or penalties based on Warfare rolls during planning. Part of the problem is, my player with the noble character is simply better at wargames than me. He routinely bea...

Re: Mass Combat
Leviathan, I usually do it that way, but I am reluctant to hand wave away mass combat in a campaign where it is taking on such prominence. I found a set of rules that codifies it a bit, and acts as a framework I can hang the gaming session on, describing the action based on the chart. I'm pretty goo...

Re: Merry Lux Splendor
We have played it as a gift giving holiday, but with an emphasis on spiritual contemplation and thanksgiving. With different planets having different orbital periods, axial tilts, and so forth, it is really hard to make a holiday on the Urthish calendar into a seasonal holiday in the known worlds, e...

Re: Mass Combat
Found a print copy in my old notes. Glad I keep three ring binders of everything. The version I have was developed by Eric Brennan. I'll either scan it or get real ambitious and type it, all I have right now is a print copy and I would prefer to have it in electronic form. I'll share here when I sca...
