I picked up the book at Gencon, and played in one of Todd's events. As someone who has always loved the setting but not the system, I am pleased with the changes so far. This is probably a stupid question but I couldn't find the answer.

When using the abstract rules for crew combat in Airship / Riverboat combat what is the number to use as defense when rolling the attack so that success level can be determined? Is it the other crew's rating?
